The aim of the present study was to examine the sex-related associations between accelerometer-measured daily step counts and adiposity indicators in adults from eight Latin American countries. We analyzed data from 2524 adults (aged 18-65 years) from the Latin American Study of Nutrition and Health. Device-measured daily step counts were measured by accelerometers (ActiGraph GT3X). The outcomes were body mass index (BMI; (kg/m2), waist and neck circumference (in cm). Overall, the mean of daily steps counts, BMI, waist and neck circumference were 10699.8, 27.3, 89.6, and 35.8. Weak and negative associations were observed between daily steps counts and BMI ( = -0.17; < 0.05) and waist circumference ( = -0.16; < 0.05); however, step counts was not associated with neck circumference. Daily steps counts were negatively associated with BMI (β: -0.054; 95%CI: -0.077; -0.012) and waist circumference (-0.098; -0.165; -0.030) independently of age and socioeconomic level. In men, there were significant negative associations between daily steps counts with BMI (-0.075; -0.119; -0.031) and waist circumference (-0.140; -0.233; -0.048), and in women, there was no significant association with either of the body composition indicators. The findings from this study need to be examined in prospective settings that use device-measured from Latin America.

Unlabelled: Introduction-Aim: Adopting a lifestyle that incorporates regular physical activity confers substantial benefits to both physical and mental health and is recommended for prediabetic individuals. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of activity tracking apps on increasing physical activity and its effect on glycemic control in people with prediabetes.
Materials And Methods: This pilot study included 37 participants, 18 in the prediabetic group and 19 in the normoglycemic group matched for age and gender (mean age 53 years, 40% males).

Oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis are the main ATP-generating pathways in cell metabolism. The balance between these two pathways is frequently altered to carry out cell-specific activities in response to stimuli involving activation, proliferation, or differentiation. Despite being a useful tool for researching metabolic profiles in real time in relatively small numbers of cancer cells, the main Agilent Seahorse XF Pro Analyzer (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, CA, USA) guideline is currently not fully detailed in the distinction between suspensions vs.

Accurate detection and classification of blood cell types in microscopic images are crucial for diagnosing various hematological conditions. This study aims to develop and evaluate advanced architectures for automating blood cell detection and classification using the newly proposed YOLOv10 and YOLOv11 models, with a specific focus on identifying red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets in microscopic images as a preliminary step of the complete blood count (CBC). : The Blood Cell Count Detection (BCCD) dataset was enriched using data augmentation techniques to improve model robustness and diversity.

Impaired walking ability and leg health are commonly seen in broilers and can negatively impact their welfare. Commonly, walking ability and leg health are assessed manually, but this is time consuming and can be subjective. Automated approaches for scoring walking ability and leg health at the individual level could therefore have great added value.
