Hemp seed oil (HSO) has received considerable attention for its health properties, especially due to unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) content. In this work, the triacylglycerol (TAG) fraction of Italian and Extra-European HSO was characterized by applying an enzymatic approach, based on the use of pancreatic lipase and 1,2-diacylglycerol kinase. This procedure allows determination of the intrapositional FA% composition of TAG. The results of the stereospecific analysis are useful for deepening knowledge on HSO nutritional aspects. The high percentage of UFA (88.3-89.9%), in particular essential FA (74.4-85.9%), of HSO samples in -2 position is important for long-term health effects, but also to enhance the use of this oil as a functional ingredient in food, cosmetic and nutraceutical fields. Furthermore, the results of total and intrapositional FA % compositions, subjected to principal component analysis, were able to differentiate HSO Italian samples from Extra-European ones. Based on the obtained results, it can be stated that the stereospecific analysis represents a potent analytical tool providing the fingerprint of TAG fraction, useful to highlight possible chemical descriptors for HSO authenticity and traceability purposes.

Objective: Genetic dystonia is a complex movement disorder with diverse clinical manifestations resulting from pathogenic mutations in associated genes. A recent paradigm shift emphasizes the functional convergence among dystonia genes, hinting at a shared pathomechanism. However, the neural dynamics supporting this convergence remain largely unexplored.

Mercury (Hg) is a globally significant pollutant, which is particularly concerning due to its ability to undergo long-range atmospheric transport and its bioaccumulation and biomagnification in marine ecosystems, even in remote regions like Antarctica. This study explores the biogeochemical cycling of Hg in the marine coastal environment of Terra Nova Bay (Antarctica) by determining the total content of mercury (THg) and its isotopic composition in fish (Trematomus bernacchii), bivalve molluscs (Adamussium colbecki) and sediment samples, collected in 1996-1998 and 2021. Significantly lower THg concentrations are found in the organisms sampled in 2021 compared to those sampled in 1996-1998, with a concurrent shift toward higher δHg (governed by mass-dependent isotope fractionation MDF) and lower ΔHg and ΔHg (governed by mass-independent isotope fractionation MIF) values.

Background: The impact of the COAPT results on clinical practice has not yet been investigated in large real-world cohort study. The aim of the study is to evaluate the potential impact of the COAPT trial by analyzing the temporal trends of baseline characteristics and outcome of secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) patients undergoing MitraClip (MC) included in the GIOTTO registry.
Methods: The study population was divided into two groups, considering the enrolment before or after the COAPT publication.

Forage crop rotations including grasslands, common in dairy systems, are known to ensure good productivity and limit the decrease of soil organic matter frequently observed in permanent arable land. A dataset was built to compile data from the Kerbernez long-term experiment, conducted in Brittany(France) from 1978 to 2005. This experiment compared the effect of different forage crop rotations fertilized with ammonium nitrate and/or slurry, with or without grassland, on forage production (quantity, quality) and changes in soil physio-chemical characteristics.

Photonics bound states in the continuum (BICs) are peculiar localized states in the continuum of free-space waves, unaffected by far-field radiation loss. Although plasmonic nano-antennas squeeze the optical field to nanoscale volumes, engineering the emergence of quasi-BICs with plasmonic hotspots remains challenging. Here, the origin of symmetry-protected (SP) quasi-BICs in a 2D system of silver-filled dimers, quasi-embedded in a high-index dielectric waveguide, is investigated through the strong coupling between photonic and plasmonic modes.
