Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be spun into fibers as potential lightweight replacements for copper in electrical current transmission since lightweight CNT fibers weigh <1/6th that of an equivalently dimensioned copper wire. Experimentally, it has been shown that the electrical resistance of CNT fibers increases with longitudinal strain; however, although fibers may be under radial strain when they are compressed during crimping at contacts for use in electrical current transport, there has been no study of this relationship. Herein, we apply radial stress at the contact to a CNT fiber on both the nano- and macro-scale and measure the changes in fiber and contact resistance. We observed an in resistance with increasing pressure on the nanoscale as well as initially on the macro scale, which we attribute to the decreasing of axial CNTCNT contacts. On the macro scale, the resistance then with increased pressure, which we attribute to improved radial contact due to the closing of voids within the fiber bundle. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) show that applied pressure on the fiber can damage the π-π bonding, which could also contribute to the increased resistance. As such, care must be taken when applying radial strain on CNT fibers in applications, including crimping for electrical contacts, lest they operate in an unfavorable regime with worse electrical performance.

Radiotherapy is an integral component in the treatment of many types of cancer, with approximately half of cancer patients receiving radiotherapy. Systemic therapy applies pressure that can select for resistant tumor subpopulations, underscoring the importance of understanding how radiation impacts tumor evolution to improve treatment outcomes. We integrated temporal genomic profiling of 120 spatially distinct tumor regions from 20 patients with undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas (UPS), longitudinal circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis, and evolutionary biology computational pipelines to study UPS evolution during tumorigenesis and in response to radiotherapy.

Characterising acoustic fields in rooms is challenging due to the complexity of data acquisition. Sound field reconstruction methods aim at predicting the acoustic quantities at positions where no data are available, incorporating generalisable physical priors of the sound in a room. This study introduces a model that exploits the general time structure of the room impulse response, where a wave-based expansion addresses the direct sound and early reflections, localising their apparent origin, and kernel methods are applied to the late part.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effects of taper angle and the number of insertion-removal cycles on the retention force of 4 mol% yttria partially stabilized zirconia (4Y-PSZ) double crowns over time.
Materials And Methods: Primary and secondary crowns were fabricated using 4Y-PSZ with taper angles of 2°, 4°, and 6° (n=15). Retention force during crown removal was measured after applying 50-N and 100-N loads.
