Photothermal therapy has always been a very attractive anti-cancer strategy, drawing a lot of attention thanks to its excellent performance as a non-invasive and pretty safe technique. Lately, nanostructures have become the main characters of the play of cancer therapy due to their ability to absorb near-infrared radiation and efficient light-to-heat conversion. Here we present the synthesis of polyethylene glycol (PEG)-stabilized hybrid ultrasmall (<20 nm) gold-silver nanotriangles (AuAgNTrs) and their application in photothermal therapy. The obtained AuAgNTrs were deeply investigated using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The cell viability assay was performed on U-87 glioblastoma multiforme cell model. Excellent photothermal performance of AuAgNTrs upon irradiation with NIR laser was demonstrated in suspension and in vitro, with >80% cell viability decrease already after 10 min laser irradiation with a laser power = 3W/cm that was proved to be harmless to the control cells. Moreover, a previous cell viability test had shown that the nanoparticles themselves were reasonably biocompatible: without irradiation cell viability remained high. Herein, we show that our hybrid AuAgNTrs exhibit very exciting potential as nanostructures for hyperthermia cancer therapy, mostly due to their easy synthesis protocol, excellent cell compatibility and promising photothermal features.

The use of adjunct chemical substances in the early postoperative period of periodontal surgical procedures is recommended due to the potential risk of trauma in the operated area. Chlorhexidine digluconate mouthwash is widely used but can cause adverse effects. Phthalocyanine derivatives are being studied as an alternative, demonstrating good antimicrobial activity, especially in the self-activated form, which does not require additional light or chemicals.

Objective: Cognitive impairment (CI) is highly prevalent in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) patients. The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway plays a critical role in neuronal survival in a variety of central nervous system injuries. This study aimed to determine whether electroacupuncture (EA) at and LI20 ameliorates SAH-CI in a rat model and to examine whether it modulates the PI3K/AKT pathway by administering a PI3K inhibitor (LY294002) versus dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) vehicle.

1,3,4-Oxadiazole-based heterocyclic analogs (3a-3m) were synthesized cyclization of Schiff bases with substituted aldehydes in the presence of bromine and acetic acid. The structural clarification of synthesized molecules was carried out with various spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR,H and C-NMR, UV-visible spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. antifungal activity was performed against , and and analogs 3g, 3i, and 3m showed potent MIC at 200 µg/ml and excellent ZOI measurements of 17-21 nm.

Background/objectives: Patients with ovarian cancer commonly experience metastases and recurrences, which contribute to high mortality. Our objective was to better understand ovarian cancer metastasis and identify candidate biomarkers and drug targets for predicting and preventing ovarian cancer recurrence.
Methods: Transcripts of 770 cancer-associated genes were compared in cells collected from ascitic fluid versus resected tumors of an ES-2 orthotopic ovarian cancer mouse model.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for approximately 90% of all oral cancers, significantly impacting the survival and quality of life of patients. Exosomes, small extracellular vesicles released by cells, play a crucial role in intercellular communication in cancer. Nevertheless, their function and mechanism in OSCC remain elusive.
