Context: Knowledge about dentin microstructure is essential for execution of clinical procedures which require adhesion of materials to dentin.
Aims: To evaluate by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) the dentin ultrastructure after demineralization with 6 M and 12 M hydrochloric acid (HCl).
Subjects And Methods: Twenty dentin segments were immersed in fixative solution and dehydrated in ethanol. After 24 h, segments were randomly divided into 2 groups ( = 10), demineralized with 6 M HCl (G6M) and 12 M HCl (G12M), and prepared for SEM analysis.
Statistical Analysis Used: Based on photomicrographs and chemical composition (energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) of dentin, a descriptive analysis was conducted.
Results: G6M samples revealed a demineralized surface with peritubular dentin exposure and small magnification of the dentinal tubules openings. The intertubular dentin was partially demineralized. Demineralization of G12M samples was more aggressive and at different depths, promoting erosion and "detachment" of dentin layers. Peritubular dentin was observed on the dentin surface. There was a large magnification of the dentinal tubules openings. In both groups, tubular structures showed a similar chemical composition to the intertubular dentin. was not observed.
Conclusions: Dentin demineralization is dependent on the HCl molarity and promotes exposure of peritubular dentin.

Background: Traditionally, dental implants require a healing period of 4 to 9 months for osseointegration, with longer recovery times considered when bone grafting is needed. This retrospective study evaluates the clinical efficacy of demineralized dentin matrix (DDM) combined with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) during dental implant placement to expedite the osseointegration period for early loading.
Methods: Thirty patients (17 male, 13 female; mean age 55.

Objective: To investigate the effect of cervical margin relocation with four different injectable restorative materials on the fracture resistance of molars receiving mesio-occluso-distal CAD/CAM nanoceramic onlay restorations.
Materials And Methods: One hundred and five sound mandibular molars received a standardized mesio-occluso-distal onlay preparation, with cervical margins located 2 mm apical to the cemento-enamel junction. The molars were randomly allocated into five groups (n = 21) according to the cervical relocating materials used: Group I had no cervical margin relocation; Group II used a highly viscous glass ionomer; Group III used a highly-filled injectable resin composite; Group IV used a resin-modified glass ionomer; and Group V used a bioactive ionic resin.

Background: Equine odontoclastic tooth resorption and hypercementosis (EOTRH) is a painful disorder primarily affecting the incisor teeth of horses over 15 years of age. Clinical signs of the disease include prehension problems, halitosis and in severe cases weight loss. The disease predominately affects the reserve crown and presents as a loss of dental tissue and excessive build-up of cementum.

Background: The aim was to evaluate the stresses in teeth, with external root resorption (ERR) restored with different materials using finite element analysis (FEA).
Methods: In this study, a Micro-CT scan was conducted on a prepared maxillary central tooth. DICOM-compatible images obtained from the sections were converted into stereolithography format using Ctan software.

Dental pulp regeneration is significantly aided by human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs). An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are crucial in the multidirectional differentiation of many mesenchymal stem cells, but their specific functions and mechanisms remain unknown. This work aimed at elucidating the molecular mechanism by which hsa_circ_0001599 works in hDPSCs during odontogenic differentiation.
