Background: Birthweight has been declining consistently for more than 30 years in Japan. This rapid rise in low birthweight is one of the worst among the countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. We examined potential determinants of birthweight decline in Japan.
Methods: We used population-based birth certificate data from vital statistics records and retrieved 40,968,266 birth certificates of neonates born between 1980 and 2004. We analyzed time trends using linear regression analysis in examining whether the decline in birthweight could be explained by obstetrical variables such as gestational age and multiple gestations.
Results: From 1980 to 2004, we observed a decline in mean birthweight with a yearly effect of - 8.07 g, which became steeper after 1985, persisted until 1999, and plateaued thereafter. After adjusting for gestational age, gender, birth order, multiple gestations, and fathers' age, the yearly effect between 1980 and 2004 persisted at - 5.13 g.
Conclusion: Recent decreases in birthweight among Japanese neonates were not fully explained by trends in gestational age, gender, birth order, multiple gestations, and fathers' age. Thus, additional factors such as pre-pregnancy maternal body mass index (BMI) and maternal diet should be considered. Reducing the rate of induced deliveries and improving the BMI or diet of young women should be a public health priority.
Aims: Behavioral risks including tobacco use, alcohol use, low physical activity and dietary risks had been proven to contribute to the pathological process in cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Herein the lethal effects attributable to behavioral risks on CVD in China were investigated.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019.
* Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with 25 caregivers to identify three main categories of challenges linked to their pain: physical, psychological/emotional, and familial/relational, which often compounded each other.
* The findings suggest the need for a new model to guide research and intervention strategies aimed at improving pain management and caregiving support for these caregivers.
High premature adult deaths in developing countries are gaining attention, as recent studies show their increasing impact on overall mortality rates. This paper has twofold objectives: firstly, it investigates the long-term trends and patterns of adult mortality between 1970 and 2018 in India. Secondly, it attempts to detect age, period, and cohort (APC) effects on adult mortality decline over time.

Introduction: Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are stable compounds characterized by their resistance to degradation. From the 1960-70's organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), such as DDTs and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) raised concerns regarding health and environmental impacts. This has led to the banning of POPs in the USA and Europe including Norway in 1980 and worldwide under the 2004 Stockholm Convention.

This study examines the impact of climate change on winter wheat production in Henan Province. The analysis, under the utilization of GLASS LAI data, focuses on shifts in the planting areas of winter wheat. In addition, a comprehensive assessment of the spatiotemporal trends in meteorological factors during the winter wheat growth period has also been conducted.
