In the recent study in Current Biology by Pei and colleagues, we used two proxies - wing loading and specific lift - to reconstruct powered flight potential across the vaned feathered fossil pennaraptorans. The results recovered multiple origins of powered flight. We respectfully disagree with the criticism raised by Serrano and Chiappe that wing loading and specific lift, used in sequence, fail to discriminate between powered flight and gliding. We will explain this in reference to our original conservative approach.

High-performance and cost-effective hole-collecting materials (HCMs) are indispensable for commercially viable perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, we report an anchorable HCM composed of a triazatruxene core connected with three alkyl carboxylic acid groups (). In contrast to the phosphonic acid-containing tripodal analog (), molecules can form a hydrophilic monolayer on a transparent conducting oxide surface, which is beneficial for subsequent perovskite film deposition in the traditional layer-by-layer fabrication process.

Introduction: Multitasking during flights leads to a high mental workload, which is detrimental for maintaining task performance. Electroencephalography (EEG) power spectral analysis based on frequency-band oscillations and microstate analysis based on global brain network activation can be used to evaluate mental workload. This study explored the effects of a high mental workload during simulated flight multitasking on EEG frequency-band power and microstate parameters.

The aircraft smart skin (ASS) with structural health monitoring capabilities is a promising technology. It enables the real-time acquisition of the aircraft's structural health status and service environment, thereby improving the performance of the aircraft and ensuring the safety of its operation, which in turn reduces maintenance costs. In this paper, a miniaturized and ultra-low-power wireless multi-parameter monitoring system (WMPMS) for ASS is developed, which is capable of monitoring multiple parameters of an aircraft, including random impact events, vibration, temperature, humidity, and air pressure.

Objectives: Femtosecond laser image guided high precision trabeculotomy (FLigHT) is a novel open-angle glaucoma treatment. The procedure non-invasively creates aqueous humor (AH) drainage channel from the anterior chamber (AC) to Schlemm's canal (SC) through the trabecular meshwork (TM) to decrease intraocular pressure (IOP). The purpose of this study was to develop a 3D finite element model (FEM) of the FLigHT procedure and to simulate clinical results for different drainage channel cross-sectional areas.
