In this study, a laser node with power 1 W and wavelength 532 nm was used to reduce the membrane fouling and evaluate its effect on the efficiency of membrane clarification of pomegranate juice. The results showed that the permeate flux increased in the presence of the laser due to the decrease in total resistance. Also, application of the laser in the pressurized process of 0.5 bar and the flow rate of 10 mL s had the best performance on the permeate flux. In addition, the laser alignment is an important parameter that gives the most efficiency in case of the vertical angle and the large surface exposure. This was confirmed by images obtained by scanning electron microscope. Evaluation of physicochemical properties of the pomegranate juice showed that they changed after membrane clarification; however, the rate of changes in the most parameters (except pH, total soluble solids content and color parameters) in two processes with and without the laser was same.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction-related cardiogenic shock (AMICS) is a severe complication associated with exceedingly high mortality rates. While mechanical circulatory support (MCS) has emerged as a potential intervention, the evidence base for independent MCS use remains weak. In contrast, systematic reviews of observational studies have revealed significant mortality reduction when a combination of MCS was used: VA-ECMO in conjunction with a left ventricular (LV) unloading device (Impella or IABP).

The use of veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) has become increasingly prevalent, particularly in respiratory disease pandemics such as H1N1-influenza and SARS-CoV-2. This surge has emphasized the importance of clear therapy recommendations, improved accessibility to ECMO technology, established ECMO teams, and structured networks to ensure access to specialized care throughout the course of the disease for patients with severe ARDS. Although the initiation criteria for VV-ECMO are well defined, treatment strategies while on ECMO regarding e.

Article Synopsis
  • The study identifies twenty-two SWEET genes involved in transporting sugar for plant growth, revealing their distribution across eleven chromosomes and classification into four subfamilies.
  • It highlights that certain SWEET genes (JsSWEET1, JsSWEET9, and JsSWEET17) are highly expressed in female flower buds during crucial developmental stages, promoting sugar accumulation necessary for differentiation.
  • The research shows that JsSWEET1 enhances sucrose accumulation, while JsSWEET9 and JsSWEET17 facilitate fructose transport, offering insights into the SWEET gene family's role in plant flower development.
