Acute Compartment Syndrome (ACS) is a serious medical condition that often results in high morbidity. ACS more commonly presents after substantial trauma in the extremities where compartment pressures can be measured. Here, we present an unusual case of a healthy man who presented with ACS of the thigh secondary to rupture of the gluteal cyst which was formed after multiple unsupervised testosterone injections. Our goal is to encourage a broad differential diagnosis while keeping limb threatening conditions and emergencies on top in patients complaining of leg pain and also to educate the patient population on safety concerns of unsupervised intramuscular injections.

We aim to explore variations of serum inflammation-related proteins in an acute compartment syndrome (ACS) rat model. We collected serum from 25 healthy Sprague-Dawley rats (control group, CG) and 50 rats with tibial fractures, including 25 rats with ACS (ACS group, AG), and 25 rats without ACS (fracture group, FG). Ten samples per group were randomly chosen for proximity extension assay analysis of 92 inflammation-related proteins, and all samples were verified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.

Sepsis is characterised by dysregulated immune responses to infection, leading to multi-organ dysfunction and high rates of mortality. With increasing survival rates in recent years long-term neurological and psychiatric consequences have become more apparent in survivors. Many patients develop sepsis associated encephalopathy (SAE) which encompasses the profound but usually transient neuropsychiatric syndrome delirium but also new brain injury that emerges in the months and years post-sepsis.

Ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy with electrons and protons has shown potential for cancer treatment by effectively targeting tumors while sparing healthy tissues (FLASH effect). This study aimed to investigate the potential FLASH sparing effect of ultra-high-dose rate helium ion irradiation, focusing on acute brain injury and subcutaneous tumor response in a preclinical in vivo setting. Raster-scanned helium ion beams were used to compare the effects of standard dose rate (SDR at 0.

Indigo is a widely used colorant available from natural and synthetic origin. It is practically insoluble in water. Indigo can reach aquatic sediments through wastewater discharges from dyeing processes, terrestrial compartments from the treatment sludges used as biosolids and dyed textiles disposed in landfills.
