The diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic pain is complex, nuanced, and challenging in primary care settings. These challenges often give rise to internal provider conflicts around appropriate management strategies, perhaps avoiding diagnosis all together. Factors that contribute to internal provider conflict include knowledge, responsibility, and uncertainties surrounding chronic pain management. This piece acknowledges the complexity and competing priorities of chronic pain management from a provider perspective. We advocate for coordinated and committed care of patients with chronic pain and a sense of shared responsibility among providers to adequately address patient needs.

N-palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), a bioactive lipid mediator with structural similarities to endocannabinoids, has exhibited notable anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in preclinical models. The objective of this study was to investigate the antinociceptive properties, motor coordination (MC), and constipation effects of tramadol and PEA in combination within a neuropathic pain model.

This randomized controlled trial investigated the effectiveness of an online self-management program, "Take Charge of Burn Pain (TCBP)," for 96 individuals living with chronic burn pain. Participants were randomly assigned to either the 7-week TCBP program integrating cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, pain education, and self-management strategies or an attention control group focused on general burn recovery information. Assessments conducted at baseline, post-treatment, and 2- and 5-month follow-ups included measures of pain severity, pain interference, pain self-efficacy, posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms, and depression.

This brief meta-review aims at providing a comprehensive overview of evidence and recommendations reported in recent reviews (2023-2024) on eHealth interventions for chronic pain promoting self-management. A systematic search provided 2041 records, of which 225 reviews were screened and 20 were synthesized.

However, it is also important to identify resilience factors that may mitigate the negative impact of or confer successful adaptation to pain. Background: Myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in the lower trapezius have been recognized as an important source of neck pain. This study aims to compare the lower trapezius muscle strength, pressure pain threshold (PPT) and muscle thickness at rest and contraction between participants and painful vs. no-painful side with active and latent MTrPs; and to examine the associations among these variables with pain intensity, duration and disability in patients with neck pain.
