Background: The patient-doctor relationship is an important concept in health care. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties, convergent validity, and factorial invariance of the Patient-Doctor Relationship Questionnaire (PDRQ-9).
Method: Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to explore the scale's dimensionality and test for strong measurement invariance across sex, age, and tumor site in a prospective, multicenter cohort of 560 patients who completed the PDRQ-9, Health-related Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC-QLQ-C30), and Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) scales.
Results: The data supported a unidimensional structure. Thresholds and factor loadings could be constrained to be invariant across sex, age, and tumor site, indicating strong measurement invariance. Scores derived from the unidimensional structure exhibited satisfactory degrees of reliability and determinacy. Evidence of convergent validity was supported by modest positive correlations with functional (p<.001) and global quality-of-life (p<.001) and negative correlations with psychological distress (p<.001). Low satisfaction with the oncologist was associated with anxiety (p=.006), and depression (p=.004).
Conclusions: The PDRQ-9 is a suitable, valid instrument for assessing the quality of patient-doctor relationships in cancer patients.

The main objective of this research is to investigate the epistemic and pragmatic management of patient-doctor interactions in Italian online health communities. To achieve this goal, an advanced web scraping methodology was used to extract from an Italian Q&A service (within the healthcare platforms, Il Mio Dottore) 200 pairs of questions and answers concerning two pathological conditions: anxiety and hypothyroidism. We first tagged the two sub-corpora and analyzed them both quantitatively and qualitatively to establish (i) what types of questions were used by patients, and what epistemic attitude and pragmatic function they convey; (ii) whether doctors' replies were aligned or not; (iii) whether there were differences between the two sub-corpora.

Introduction: The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol has been proven to accelerate recovery without increasing morbidity, but few data are available from developing countries. We aimed to demonstrate the correlation between compliance with the ERAS protocol and short-term outcomes in upper gastrointestinal (UGI) surgery.
Materials And Methods: Patients that underwent esophageal and gastric surgeries during March 2019 to June 2021 were prospectively enrolled in this nonrandomized cohort study.

Retained drain fragments, though rare, can lead to significant complications in orthopedic surgery(1). This case report presents a 57-year-old woman who developed gluteal tendinopathy and Trendelenburg gait two years after a total hip arthroplasty (THA) due to a retained drain fragment. A less experienced surgeon encountered resistance during drain removal on the first postoperative day and applied excessive force, unknowingly leaving a fragment inside.

Objective: The healthcare professional's attitude toward persistent somatic symptoms (PSS) seems to play an important role in access to and quality of care for patients with PSS. To encourage research on PSS attitude, we developed and validated the Professionals' Attitude to Persistent Somatic Symptoms Questionnaire (PAPSS).
Methods: A list of items was developed through theory and a focus group with PSS experts, with response categories on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree".
