Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) have gained interest as drug delivery carriers due to their efficient cellular internalization and increased therapeutic effect of the loaded drug, with minimal side effects. Although recently several studies have shown the possibility to administer SLNs during pregnancy to vehicle mRNA to the placenta, data about the effect of premating exposure to SLNs on pregnancy outcome are scant. Recent studies have revealed that formononetin, a naturally occurring isoflavone found in kudzu root and licorice, has the potential to inhibit ferroptosis in intestinal epithelial cells. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often involves oxidative stress-related pathways, making the modulation of ferroptosis a promising therapeutic avenue. We employed a combination of several techniques to explore how formononetin regulates the retinoid X receptor alpha/peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (RXRA/PPARG) pathway to inhibit ferroptosis in Fetal Human Colonic Epithelial Cells (FHC) induced by RSL3.

This study reports a case of fetal intestinal volvulus confirmed postoperatively, providing insights into its clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods, and treatment outcomes, thereby enhancing understanding of this rare condition.

It is not a single disorder, but rather a manifestation of an insult(s) to the uteroplacental unit -whether maternal, fetal, and/or placental. Multiple etiologies have been implicated, including uteroplacental ischemia, maternal infection and/or inflammation, maternal obesity, sleep disorders, hydatidiform mole, maternal intestinal dysbiosis, autoimmune disorders, fetal diseases, breakdown of maternal-fetal immune tolerance, placental aging, and endocrine disorders.
