In a recent study, Shin and Niv explain both negativity and positivity biases in social evaluations as a function of the diversity and low frequency of events. We discuss why negative information is indeed more diverse and less frequent, and highlight the implications beyond social evaluations.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the sociodemographic factors, loss-related factors, and adult separation anxiety associated with a diagnosis of Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD), after controlling for anxiety, depression, and perceived social support during the COVID-19 pandemic in Türkiye.
Methods: Participants (n=126) completed an online survey that included socio-demographic and loss-related information, as well as the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Prolonged Grief Disorder Scale-13, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire-27.

Background: Mosquito-borne diseases cause millions of deaths each year and are increasingly spreading from tropical and subtropical regions into temperate zones, posing significant public health risks. In the Basque Country region of Spain, changing climatic conditions have driven the spread of invasive mosquitoes, increasing the potential for local transmission of diseases such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. The establishment of mosquito species in new areas, coupled with rising mosquito populations and viremic imported cases, presents challenges for public health systems in non-endemic regions.
