AI Article Synopsis

  • - Two new polyketones, clerodendruketone A and B, were discovered alongside four known compounds from the leaves and twigs of a plant, with their structures analyzed using NMR, HRESIMS, and ECD data.
  • - The antioxidant properties of these compounds were evaluated using a DPPH assay, while their antibacterial activities against specific bacteria were assessed through a turbidimetry assay.
  • - Findings revealed that clerodendruketones A and B exhibited significant antibacterial activity, while clerodendruketone A showed moderate antioxidant effects.

Article Abstract

Two novel polyketones, along with four known compounds, were isolated from the leaves and twigs of . Their structures were determined to be clerodendruketone A (), clerodendruketone B (), ecdysanols E (), ecdysanols D (), 5,5'-dimethoxy-7-oxolariciresinol (), and (-)-(7',8,8')-4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3',5,5'-tetramethoxy-7',9-epoxy-lignan-9'-ol-7-one () through the methods of NMR, HRESIMS and ECD data analyses. The antioxidant effects against free radical were tested by DPPH assay. The antibacterial activity against and were tested by turbidimetry assay. The results demonstrated that compounds and had significative antibacterial activity, and compound had moderate antioxidant activity.

The present study aimed to investigate the impact of Sparassis latifolia polysaccharides (SLPs) on hepatic immune function in cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced immunocompromised mice. Our findings demonstrated that SLPs effectively suppressed the production of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), inflammatory factors, and acute phase proteins, while improving the hepatic oxidative stress state. Additionally, SLPs exerted inhibitory effects on inflammatory cell infiltration within hepatic tissue.

Pd-Catalyzed Ring-Opening Polymerization of Cyclobutanols through C(sp)-C(sp) Bond Cleavage.

Macromolecules

July 2024

Departamento de Química Inorgánica, Universidad de Murcia, Campus de Espinardo, 30100 Murcia, Spain.

A new approach to ring-opening polymerization (ROP) based on C(sp)-C(sp) bond cleavage is reported. This process is based on the ability of Pd to promote both the β-carbon elimination of a bifunctional cyclobutanol precursor and the C-C coupling process with the resulting Pd-alkyl intermediate. Consequently, novel polyketone materials are obtained.

Endophytic fungi associated with plants may contain undiscovered bioactive compounds. Under standard laboratory conditions, most undiscovered compounds are inactive, whereas their production could be stimulated under different cultivation conditions. In this study, six endophytic fungi were isolated from the bark of Koelreuteria paniculata in Quancheng Park, Jinan City, Shandong Province, one of which was identified as a new subspecies of Aureobasidium pullulans, named A.
