A novel -pimarane-type diterpenoid, sigesbeckia J (), along with two known diterpenoids, siegesbeckia acid () and -18-acetoxy-16,17-dihydroxykauran-19-oic acid (), were isolated from the aerial parts of Makino. Their chemical structures were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic interpretation. The absolute configuration of -pimarane-type diterpenoid () was determined by comparing experimental and calculated ECD spectra. Compared with the positive control minocycline (IC 32.84 μM), compound exhibited moderate cell growth anti-inflammatory activities by testing their inhibition of LPS-induced NO production in BV2 microglial cells, with IC value of 58.74 μM.

Apple ring rot, caused by the pathogenic fungus , has inflicted substantial economic losses and caused significant food safety concerns. In this study, a pimarane-type diterpenoid, diaporthein B (DTB), isolated from a marine-derived fungus, exhibited significant antifungal activity against , with an EC value of 8.8 μg/mL.

Aim: Recent developments in cancer research indicate that cancer is a manifestation of immune system dysfunction. Many natural anticancer agents developed recently possess immune-modulatory properties. In our ongoing pursuit of anticancer alternatives, we evaluated the immune-modulatory potential of oligandrin, an ent-pimarane type diterpenoid from .

An extensive phytochemical investigation on the EtOAc-soluble fraction of the 90% MeOH extract from the twigs and needles of the 'vulnerable' Chinese endemic conifer Tsuga forrestii (Forrest's hemlock) led to the isolation and characterization of 50 structurally diverse diterpenoids, including 15 unreported C-18 carboxylated ones (tsugaforrestiacids A-O, 1-15, resp.). Among them, compounds 1-7 are abieten-18-oic acids, compound 8 is an abieten-18-succinate, and compounds 10-12 are podocarpen-18-oic acids, whereas compounds 13-15 are pimarane-type, isopimarane-type, and totarane-type diterpenoid acids, respectively.

A new pimarane-type diterpene, ent-8(14),15-pimaradiene-2β,19-diol (JXE-23), was isolated from the fern plant Aleuritopteris albofusca by our previous work; however, the biological activity of this diterpene remains unclear. In the present study, the anti-cancer potential of JXE-23 in various cancer cells was investigated. Among MCF-7 breast cancer cells, A549 lung cancer cells, and HepG2 liver cancer cells, JXE-23 displayed significant cytotoxicity to HepG2 cells with an IC value of 17.
