Motivated by the inadequacy of conducting atomistic simulations of crack propagation using static boundary conditions that do not reflect the movement of the crack tip, we extend Sinclair's flexible boundary condition algorithm [J. E. Sinclair, Philos. Mag. 31, 647 (1975)PHMAA40031-808610.1080/14786437508226544] and propose a numerical-continuation-enhanced flexible boundary scheme, enabling full solution paths for cracks to be computed with pseudo-arclength continuation, and present a method for incorporating more detailed far-field information into the model for next to no additional computational cost. The algorithms are ideally suited to study details of lattice trapping barriers to brittle fracture and can be incorporated into density functional theory and multiscale quantum and classical quantum mechanics and molecular mechanics calculations. We demonstrate our approach for mode-III fracture with a 2D toy model and employ it to conduct a 3D study of mode-I fracture of silicon using realistic interatomic potentials, highlighting the superiority of the approach over employing a corresponding static boundary condition. In particular, the inclusion of numerical continuation enables converged results to be obtained with realistic model systems containing a few thousand atoms, with very few iterations required to compute each new solution. We also introduce a method to estimate the lattice trapping range of admissible stress intensity factors K_{-}

Skyrmion bags, with arbitrary topological charge Q, have recently attracted much interest, since such high-Q topological systems could open a way for topological magnetism research and are promising for spintronic applications with high flexibility for information encoding. Investigation on room-temperature skyrmion bags in magnetic multilayered structures is essential for applications and remains unexplored so far. Here, we demonstrate room-temperature creation and manipulation of individual skyrmion bags in magnetic multilayered disks.

Flexible perovskite solar cells (F-PSCs) are appealing for their flexibility and high power-to-weight ratios. However, the fragile grain boundaries (GBs) in perovskite films can lead to stress and strain cracks under bending conditions, limiting the performance and stability of F-PSCs. Herein, we show that the perovskite film can facilely achieve in situ bifacial capping via introducing 4-(methoxy)benzylamine hydrobromide (MeOBABr) as the precursor additive.

Non-Hermitian models describe the physics of ubiquitous open systems with gain and loss. One intriguing aspect of non-Hermitian models is their inherent topology that can produce intriguing boundary phenomena like resilient higher-order topological insulators (HOTIs) and non-Hermitian skin effects (NHSE). Recently, time-multiplexed lattices in synthetic dimensions have emerged as a versatile platform for the investigation of these effects free of geometric restrictions.

The study presents a multi-functional and semiconductor polymer poly[bis(3-hexylthiophen-2-yl)thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione] (PBDTTPD) doping strategy that significantly enhanced the performance of the two-terminal all-perovskite tandem perovskite solar cells (T-PSCs). An optimized power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 26.87% has been achieved.
