Objective: Anticoccidial drugs may lead to the development of drug resistance and drug residues. Herbal extracts could be an attractive alternative. This research was undertaken to evaluate the anticoccidial outcome of compared with the anticoccidial drug (Toltazuril) in Sonali chickens.
Materials And Methods: A total of 80 Sonali chickens were evenly and equally allocated into four groups, namely (non-infected control), (infected control), (treated with ), and (treated with Toltrazuril). All groups were experimentally infected with oocysts of mixed spp. orally except , and the mixed spp. oocyst load (OL), body weight (BW) gain, and hematological parameters were calculated.
Results: In the findings, the highest OL reduction rate in was 100%, while the was 83.44%. Nevertheless, BW differed significantly ( < 0.01) among the different groups, while the daily BW gain was higher in amounting to 8.10 gm. In the case of hematological parameter, total erythrocyte count (TEC), hemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate in different groups were almost the same and were also statistically insignificant ( > 0.05) barring total leukocyte count resulting as significant ( < 0.05) at day 30. Additionally, the results of Pearson's correlation in at day 30 indicated a strong significant ( < 0.01) negative correlation between OL and BW ( = -0.780) with the following regression equation: = -0.16* + 433.665. Moreover, the correlation of TEC, PCV, and Hb with OL was significantly ( < 0.01) negative, = -0.786, = -0.752 and = -0.633, where the regression equations were = -0.03* + 4.51, = -0.03* + 27.42, and = -0.04* + 11.40, respectively.
Conclusion: Long-term use of leaves' extracts effectively controls coccidiosis in Sonali chickens and can act as an effective growth promoter.

Despite the significant growth in Sonali chicken production across Bangladesh, inadequate disease surveillance and control measures along with indiscriminate antimicrobial use remain major challenges to the sector. In this study, we evaluated the disease burden and antimicrobial prescription patterns of Sonali chickens in Bangladesh using a web-based data recording system from 2020 to 2021 and analyzed 1690 cases. The diagnoses recorded in the system were presumptive, as they were based on clinico-epidemiological history, clinical signs, and gross necropsy findings noted by registered veterinarians.

Respiratory viral infections have a considerable detrimental impact on animal health as well as significant financial consequences in the poultry industry. The primary aim of this study is to investigate the major pathogens involved in respiratory diseases of poultry, the co-infection rate, and their epidemiological distribution in commercial chicken farms in Bangladesh. From June 2022 to December 2023, 300 pooled samples (swabs from live birds, and respiratory tissues from dead birds) were collected from the selected poultry farms where respiratory outbreaks were noticed.

The study aimed to evaluate the profitability, meat quality, and carcass parameters of fast-, medium-, and slow-growing meat-type chicken genotypes of Bangladesh. This study examined the quantities of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni, Fe, and Cu) in commercially available meat, poultry, and game products in Noakhali, Bangladesh, and their potential health effects, as heavy metal contamination poses a significant food safety risk to human health Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry was used to analyze heavy metals, and the health risk assessment was based on Estimated Daily Intake (EDI), Targeted Hazard Quotient (THQ), Total THQ, and Total Carcinogenic Risk (TCR). Most samples exceeded Maximum Allowable Concentrations (MAC) for heavy metals. The EDI value of Cd, Pb, and Cr for duck liver, goat liver, and pigeon brain, were higher than the Maximum Tolerable Dietary Intake (MTDI).
