Background: Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is the major vision-disrupting complication arising after cataract surgery. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are biological active RNAs which were involved in various physiological functions. So far, the role of circRNA caspase recruitment domain family member 6 (circ-CARD6) in PCO is still unclear.
Methods: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied to detect the expression of circ-CARD6, microRNA 31 (miR-31) and fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF7) message RNA (mRNA). Western blot was used to analyze the protein expression. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was employed to capture the exosome image. The proliferation and metastasis were analyzed by cell counting kit-8 (CCK8), transwell and wound healing assays. The potential binding sequences between miR-31 and circ-CARD6 or FGF7 were respectively predicted by Circinteractome and Targetscan online tool, and verified by dual-luciferase reporter and RNA binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP) assays.
Results: Exosome-transmitted circ-CARD6 was highly expressed in PCO tissues and TGF-β2-treated SRA01/04 cells. Circ-CARD6 deletion repressed the proliferation, metastasis, EMT process and MAPK pathway, which was reversed by anti-miR-31 in TGF-β2-treated SRA01/04 cells. Meanwhile, circ-CARD6 sponged miR-31 which directly targeted FGF7 in TGF-β2-treated SRA01/04 cells. FGF7 overexpression allayed miR-31 overexpression-induced suppression in proliferation, metastasis, EMT process and MAPK pathway. Besides, circ-CARD6 regulated FGF7 expression by sponging miR-31.
Conclusion: Circ-CARD6 promoted PCO development via miR-31/FGF7 axis. This finding might contribute to the development of the targeted therapy for PCO.

The significance of ALKBH5 in erasing mRNA methylation in mRNA biogenesis, decay, and translation control has emerged as a prominent research focus. Additionally, ALKBH5 is associated with the development of numerous human cancers. However, it remains unclear whether ALKBH5 regulates the growth and metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly aggressive breast cancer subtype with poor prognosis. RNA alternative splicing dysregulation plays a critical role in the initiation and progression of TNBC. This article systematically introduces the basic process of RNA splicing and then focuses on reviewing the aberrant alternative splicing events and their biological effects in TNBC: 1) Multiple splicing-related factors promote tumor cell proliferation and mediate chemotherapy resistance by regulating the alternative splicing of genes involved in cell survival and drug response; 2) dysregulation of splicing regulatory networks leads to altered splicing of multiple metastasis-related genes, promoting tumor invasion and metastasis; 3) aberrant alternative splicing events participate in tumor progression by affecting the expression of DNA damage repair genes; 4) dysregulation of alternative splicing is also involved in the regulation of tumor immune evasion and stem cell properties.

Glioma Amplified Sequence 41 (GAS41) is a chromatin-associated protein that belongs to the YEATS domain family of proteins and is frequently amplified in various tumors. However, its biological function and carcinogenic mechanism in gliomas are not fully understood. In this study, we revealed that GAS41 was upregulated in human glioma tissues and cell lines, and higher expression of GAS41 was significantly associated with poor clinical prognosis.

Malignant pheochromocytomas are infrequent tumors that have a poorer prognosis compared to their benign counterparts. The administration of chemotherapy to patients with pheochromocytoma can result in adverse side effects and a reduced life quality. Alternative and more targeted treatment strategies, such as gene therapy significantly improve the patients' survival rate and life expectancy.

Background: Cervical cancer (CC) is a prevalent gynecological malignancy, contributing to a substantial number of fatalities among women. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as promising biomarkers with significant potential for the early detection and prognosis of CC.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the clinical significance and biological role of miR-615-5p in CC, with the goal of identifying novel biomarkers for this disease.
