Filamentous plant pathogens pose a severe threat to food security. Current estimates suggest up to 23% yield losses to pre- and post-harvest diseases and these losses are projected to increase due to climate change (Singh et al. 2023; Chaloner et al.

Cannabinoid-based Pharmacology for the Management of Substance Use Disorders.

Curr Top Behav Neurosci

January 2025

Department of Neurobiology, University of Maryland, School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, USA.

In the last two decades, the endocannabinoid system has emerged as a crucial modulator of motivation and emotional processing. Due to its widespread neuroanatomical distribution and characteristic retrograde signaling nature, cannabinoid type I receptors and their endogenous ligands finely orchestrate somatic and axon terminal activity of dopamine neurons. Owing to these unique features, this signaling system is a promising pharmacological target to ameliorate dopamine-mediated drug-seeking behaviors while circumventing the adverse side effects of, for instance, dopaminergic antagonists.

Untargeted Metabolic Phenotyping by LC-MS.

Methods Mol Biol

January 2025

Division of Systems Medicine, Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction, Imperial College, London, UK.

Untargeted analysis by LC-MS is a valuable tool for metabolic profiling (metabonomics/metabolomics), and applications of this technology have grown rapidly over the past decade. LC-MS offers advantages of speed, sensitivity, relative ease of sample preparation, and large dynamic range compared to other platforms in this role. However, like any analytical approach, there are still drawbacks and challenges that have to be overcome, some of which are being addressed by advances in both column chemistries and instrumentation.

CAR-T therapy toxicities: the importance of macrophages in their development and possible targets for their management.

Discov Oncol

January 2025

Internal Medicine Department, Division of Hematology-Oncology, Loyola University Medical Center, 2160 S 1St Ave, Maywood, IL, 60153, USA.

CAR-T cell therapies have risen to prominence over the last decade, and their indications are increasing with several products approved as early as second line in Large B Cell non-Hodgkin Lymphomas. Their major toxicities are the cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and the Immune-effector Cell Associated Neurotoxicity Syndrome (ICANS). These entities involve a hyperinflammatory cascade which is amplified through the mononuclear phagocytic system (MPS).

Research on the cerebellum and its functional organization has significantly expanded over the last decades, expanding our comprehension of its role far beyond motor control, including critical contributions to cognition and affective processing. Notably, the cerebellar lateralization mirrors contralateral brain lateralization, a complex phenomenon that remains unexplored, especially across different stages of life. The present work aims to bridge this gap by providing a comprehensive scoping review of the lateralization of motor, cognitive, and affective functioning within the cerebellum across the lifespan.
