Objective: To study the efficacy and safety of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) versus cyclophosphamide (CTX) in the treatment of children with Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) and nephrotic-range proteinuria.
Methods: A prospective clinical trial was conducted in 68 pediatric patients who were admitted to the Department of Nephrology, Children's Hospital Affiliated to Capital Institute of Pediatrics and who were diagnosed with HSPN and nephrotic-range proteinuria from August 2016 to November 2019. The patients were randomly divided into two groups:MMF treatment (=33) and CTX treatment (=35). The two groups were compared in terms of complete remission rate, response rate (complete remission + partial remission), urinary protein clearance time, and adverse events.
Results: At months 3, 6, and 12 of treatment, there was no significant difference in the complete remission rate and the response rate between the MMF treament and CTX treatment groups ( > 0.05). There was also no significant difference between the two groups in the urinary protein clearance time and the incidence rate of adverse events ( > 0.05).
Conclusions: MMF and CTX have similar efficacy and safety in the treatment of HSPN children with nephrotic-range proteinuria.

Purpose: To develop of a novel computed tomography (CT) severity score for hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and evaluate its correlation with disease severity and adverse outcomes.
Methods: This retrospective study included 37 patients diagnosed with HFRS from January 2012 to December 2023 who had available clinical laboratory and abdominal CT data during the acute phase. The CT severity score (range 0-5) was based on perirenal fat stranding, pararenal fascia thickening, anterior pararenal space fat stranding, ascites, and pleural effusion.

Background: Shunt nephritis, although rare, should be high in the differential diagnoses for patients with gross or microscopic hematuria and a history of a ventriculoatrial/cystoatrial shunt.
Observations: The authors present the case of a 31-year-old female with a history of a resected posterior fossa hemangioblastoma and hydrocephalus, who presented to the nephrology clinic with night sweats and tea-colored urine for 3 months after being hospitalized for a saddle pulmonary embolism; kidney biopsy was contraindicated. The patient had hypocomplementemia, nephrotic-range proteinuria, positive proteinase 3-specific antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody, and dysmorphic red blood cells in the urine sediment.
Introduction: Nephrotic syndrome is characterized by proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, and edema, though not all patients present with edema. This study investigates edema prevalence and its association with venous thromboembolism, kidney failure, and mortality in patients with nephrotic-range albuminuria and hypoalbuminemia.
Methods: We conducted a Danish multicenter cohort study, including patients with plasma albumin <30 g/L and nephrotic-range albuminuria in the Central Denmark Region (2012-2022).
