We study experimentally the dynamical behavior of few large tracer particles placed in a quasi-2D granular "gas" made of many small beads in a low-gravity environment. Multiple inelastic collisions transfer momentum from the uniaxially driven gas to the tracers whose velocity distributions are studied through particle tracking. Analyzing these distributions for an increasing system density reveals that translational energy equipartition is reached at the onset of the gas-liquid granular transition corresponding to the emergence of local clusters. The dynamics of a few tracer particles thus appears as a simple and accurate tool to detect this transition. A model is proposed for describing accurately the formation of local heterogeneities.

Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) is an emerging imaging modality with exciting biomedical applications, such as cell tracking, blood pool imaging, and image-guided magnetic hyperthermia. MPI is unique in that signal is generated entirely by synthetic nanoparticle tracers, motivating precise engineering of magnetic nanoparticle properties including size, shape, composition, and coating to address the needs of specific applications. However, success in many applications and in clinical transition requires development of high-sensitivity and high-resolution tracers, for which there is considerable room for improvement.

Particle emissions study from tire sample with nano-silver tracer from different steps of its life cycle. A new approach to trace emissions of tire microparticles.

Emissions due to tires retread/repair and incineration are a cause of concern owing to the presence of nanoparticles in the products. The assessment exposure to humans hereto related is a challenge in an environmental context. The first object of this work is to develop a method to characterize the emission sources using online (counting and sizing) and offline measurements.

Paddy fields are a major anthropogenic source of global methane (CH) emissions, a powerful greenhouse gas (GHG). This study aimed at gaining insights of different organic and inorganic conductive materials (CMs) - biochar, fungal melanin, and magnetite - to mitigate CH emissions, and on their influence on key microbial populations, mimicking the postharvest season throughout the degradation of rice straw in microcosms under anaerobic conditions encompassing postharvest paddy rice soils from the Ebro Delta, Spain. Results showed that fungal melanin was the most effective CM, significantly reducing CH emissions by 29 %, while biochar amendment also reduced emissions by 10 %.

Purpose: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) radioligand therapy is a promising treatment for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Several beta or alpha particle-emitting radionuclide-conjugated small molecules have shown efficacy in late-stage mCRPC and one, [[177Lu]Lu]Lu-PSMA-617, is FDA approved. In addition to tumor upregulation, PSMA is also expressed in kidneys and salivary glands where specific uptake can cause dose-limiting xerostomia and potential for nephrotoxicity.
