Background: The role of thulium laser in the treatment of interlobar fissures in lobectomy is not clear. We aimed to evaluate the safety, effectiveness and economy of thulium laser in the treatment of incomplete interlobar fissure during lobectomy.

Methods: A total of 76 patients were randomly divided into two groups: laser group and stapler group. The laser group was treated with thulium laser and the stapler group with stapler.

Results: Compared with stapler group, the laser group had a longer operation time, more postoperative drainage and lower operation cost, while there was no significant difference in hospitalization time, postoperative air leakage time and chest tube duration.

Conclusions: Thulium laser is safe and effective in the treatment of incomplete interlobar fissure during lobectomy and can reduce the cost.

To assess the accuracy of Kidney Stone Calculator(KSC), a software designed for surgical planning, in predicting the duration of lithotripsy during flexible ureteroscopy(FURS) when using the novel pulsed-Thulium: YAG(p-Tm: YAG) laser. From February to August 2023, a single-center prospective study was conducted, including patients with kidney or ureteral stones through non-contrast computed tomography(NCCT), who underwent FURS with p-Tm: YAG laser lithotripsy. KSC used three-dimensional segmentation of the stones from NCCT images, along with an interactive user interface for laser settings, to estimate the stone volume(SV) and the lithotripsy duration(LD).

Purpose: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) is a controlled grade IV renal trauma and intraoperative bleeding is the most crucial complication. Contemporarily, pulsed mode thulium laser has been reported to confer adequate hemostasis. Therefore, the primary outcome of this study was to assess safety and efficacy of thulium laser-based hemostasis during PNL.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of three different AEEP techniques on the training performance of novices using a realistic hydrogel prostate phantom model.

Material And Methods: The experimental setup utilized realistic prostate phantom model provided by the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Germany. For the enucleation, we utilized a new solid-state pulsed thulium laser (Thulio®, Dornier MedTech, Weßling, Germany).

Simulation studies on temperature distribution in laser ablation help predict ablation rates, laser settings, and thermal damage. Despite the limited number of reported numerical studies on the temperature distribution of kidney fluid, there is no simulation study for kidney stone temperature distribution. We employ a numerical approach to study the kidney stone temperature distribution and predict ablation rates, which is an important parameter for clinical lithotripsy.
