Objective: Iron supplementation may reduce postoperative anemia, blood transfusions, and infections in patients undergoing surgery. We sought to assess efficacy and safety of prophylactic intravenous iron supplementation in patients without anemia undergoing cardiac surgery.
Methods: In this investigator-initiated industry-sponsored single-center randomized double-blind parallel group trial, we enrolled patients undergoing coronary bypass, aortic or mitral valve or ascending aortic surgery who fulfilled prespecified iron blood test safety criteria.

The risk assessment and prevention in traditional airport safety assurance usually rely on human experience for analysis, and there are problems such as heavy manual workload, excessive subjectivity, and significant limitations. This article proposed a risk assessment and prevention mechanism for airport security assurance that integrated LSTM algorithm. It analyzed the causes of malfunctioning flights by collecting airport flight safety log datasets.

Background/objectives: Fine motor movements are essential for daily activities, such as handwriting, and rely heavily on visual information to enhance motor complexity and minimize errors. Tracing tasks provide an ecological method for studying these movements and investigating sensorimotor processes. To date, our understanding of the influence of different quantities of visual information on fine motor control remains incomplete.

Background: We aimed to investigate the prognostic role of β-synuclein in comparison to that of neurofilament light chain (NfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) for predicting functional outcome after acute ischemic stroke (AIS).
Methods: We measured serum concentrations of β-synuclein, NfL and GFAP 24 h after hospital admission in 213 consecutive patients with moderate-to-severe AIS. We investigated the association between serum biomarkers and radiological/clinical characteristics, 3-months mortality and functional outcome on the modified Rankin Scale (mRS).
