Recreational cannabis use has increased notably in the United States in the past decade, with a recent surge in oral consumption. This trend has raised concerns about driving under the influence. Background: Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is considered to be one of the main clinical manifestations of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and is a treatment target for patients with OSA. The prevalence of EDS in patients with OSA remains unclear and there is a lack of studies on the associations of EDS with quality of life among patients with OSA in China. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of EDS and its association with quality of life in patients with OSA in Shenzhen, China.

Metastasis causes most cancer deaths and reflects transitions from primary tumor escape to seeding and growth at metastatic sites. Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is important early in metastasis to enable cancer cells to detach from neighboring cells, become migratory, and escape the primary tumor. While different phases of metastasis expose cells to variable nutrient environments and demands, the metabolic requirements and plasticity of each step are uncertain.

Circuit dysfunction in autism may involve a failure of homeostatic plasticity. To test this, we studied parvalbumin (PV) interneurons which exhibit rapid homeostatic plasticity of intrinsic excitability following whisker deprivation in mouse somatosensory cortex. Brief deprivation reduces PV excitability by increasing Kv1 current to increase PV spike threshold.

Background And Purpose: Cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis (MS) is common and is associated with problems in employment, driving ability, and quality of life. Since cognitive impairment at time of diagnosis is predictive of disability progression, early assessment and annual monitoring is recommended. The Brief International Cognitive Assessment in Multiple Sclerosis (BICAMS) was introduced as a time-efficient screening tool that can easily be applied in standard clinical care.
