The body of a 14-wk-old puppy () was submitted to the Animal Health Laboratory, University of Guelph, Ontario for postmortem examination following a history of intermittent anorexia and lethargy progressing to pyrexia, pruritic skin rash, mucoid nasal discharge, decreased mentation, dysphagia, muscle twitches, and focal seizures. Gross examination revealed rhinitis and pulmonary edema. Histologically, there was fibrinonecrotizing bronchopneumonia, tracheitis, and neutrophilic and lymphohistiocytic rhinitis; rarely within the cortical gray and white matter of the brain were small clusters of glial cells, with rare individual neutrophils in the choroid plexus.

A 4-month-old female-entire Vizsla dog was referred for progressive seizure activity, vomiting, lethargy, inappetence, and neck pain. CT revealed focal inflammation, a calvarial osseous defect, a possible foreign body within the brain, and associated vasogenic edema. A cerebrospinal fluid tap revealed marked septic neutrophilic pleocytosis.

Objective: To describe the successful treatment of lethal dose 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) toxicosis using hemodialysis.
Case Summary: A 4-month-old intact female Golden Retriever was presented to the emergency department after ingesting 20 g of 5% 5-FU cream. The puppy developed refractory seizures and became comatose with uncontrolled tonic-clonic convulsions.

Hypothesis/objectives: Describe the clinical, diagnostic, pathological and genetic features of spinocerebellar degeneration in the Bouvier des Ardennes breed.
Animals: Five affected Bouvier des Ardennes puppies with spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), 8 healthy related dogs, and 63 healthy unrelated Bouvier des Ardennes.
