Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is most commonly associated with cirrhosis due to the reduced blood flow through the liver. However, its occurrence in non-cirrhotic individuals is rare and typically linked to hypercoagulable states. Background: High-resolution manometry (HRM) is the gold standard for the diagnosis of esophageal motility disorders. While studies have previously reported on HRM findings in patients with dysphagia and/or chest pain, we sought to compare the yield and findings of HRM based on different indications for motility testing.
Methods: A retrospective study was performed including all successful HRM studies performed at two tertiary medical centers between 2018 and 2023.
