In this paper, we generalize the notion of Shannon's entropy power to the Rényi-entropy setting. With this, we propose generalizations of the de Bruijn identity, isoperimetric inequality, or Stam inequality. This framework not only allows for finding new estimation inequalities, but it also provides a convenient technical framework for the derivation of a one-parameter family of Rényi-entropy-power-based quantum-mechanical uncertainty relations. To illustrate the usefulness of the Rényi entropy power obtained, we show how the information probability distribution associated with a quantum state can be reconstructed in a process that is akin to quantum-state tomography. We illustrate the inner workings of this with the so-called "cat states", which are of fundamental interest and practical use in schemes such as quantum metrology. Salient issues, including the extension of the notion of entropy power to Tsallis entropy and ensuing implications in estimation theory, are also briefly discussed.

Physiological wound healing process can restore the functional and structural integrity of skin, but is often delayed due to external disturbance. The development of methods for promoting the repair process of skin wounds represents a highly desired and challenging goal. Here, a flexible, self-powered, and multifunctional triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) wound patch (e-patch) is presented for accelerating wound healing through the synergy of electrostimulation and photothermal effect.

The optimized composition and precisely tailored structure configuration play critical roles in enhancing the catalytic reaction kinetics. Here we report a distinctive core@satellite strategy for designing the advanced platinum-nickel@platinum-nickel-copper-cobalt-indium high-entropy alloy nanowires (PtNi@HEA NWs) as efficient bifunctional catalysts in the proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Impressively, the PtNi@HEA NWs/C shows 19.

Background: Phenotyping Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) can be crucial to providing personalized treatment. Several studies have analyzed the use of digital biomarkers to characterize a subject’s behavior, usually obtained from a single modality, such as speech. However, combining several modalities in a single study has not been deeply studied.

Electrophysiological Signatures of Alpha Coma.

J Clin Neurophysiol

January 2025

Department of Intensive Care, Neuro-Intensive Care Unit, University Hospital of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland.

Purpose: Recent research on quantitative EEG in coma has proposed several metrics correlating with consciousness level. However, the heterogeneous nature of coma can challenge the generalizability of these measures. This study investigates alpha-coma, an electroclinical pattern characterized by a widespread, nonreactive alpha rhythm often linked to poor outcomes.
