Red mature calyces of were collected from 16 different locations in Meghalaya, India. Samples were processed using shade drying (SD) and tray drying (TD). NMR spectroscopy was used to assess the metabolic composition of the calyces. In this study, 18 polar metabolites were assigned using 1D and 2D NMR spectra, and 10 of them were quantified. Proximate analysis showed that the TD method is more efficient at reducing moisture and maintaining the ash content of the biomass. NMR metabolomics indicates that the metabolite composition significantly differs between SD and TD samples and is more stable in TD plant processing. The differences in post-harvest drying has a greater impact on the metabolite composition of than the plant location.

Background: Childhood rhinitis and asthma are allergic respiratory diseases triggered by common allergens, but they affect different parts of the respiratory system, leading to distinct symptoms. However, a comprehensive multi-biofluid metabolomics-based approach to uncover valuable insights into childhood allergies and allergen sensitization remains unaddressed.
Methods: Seventy-six children, comprising 26 with rhinitis, 26 with asthma, and 24 healthy controls, were enrolled.

Background: Existing cardiovascular risk prediction models still have room for improvement in patients with type 2 diabetes who represent a high-risk population. This study evaluated whether adding metabolomic biomarkers could enhance the 10-year prediction of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in these patients.
Methods: Data from 10,257 to 1,039 patients with type 2 diabetes from the UK Biobank (UKB) and the German ESTHER cohort, respectively, were used for model derivation, internal and external validation.

Background: A proinflammatory diet has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. However, the underlying metabolic roles remain to be elucidated.
Objective: To investigate the metabolic mechanism between proinflammatory diet and breast cancer risk.

In this study, untargeted Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) metabolomics was applied for the first time, to our knowledge, to assess the metabolic impact of direct and transgenerational exposure (F0 and F3 generations, respectively) of amphipods Gammarus locusta to simvastatin (SIM), a pharmaceutical widely prescribed for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. Results revealed the important gender-dependent nature of each of these effects. Directly exposed males showed enhanced glucose catabolism and tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle activity, in tandem with adaptations in osmotic regulation and glyoxylate metabolism.

Gualou-Xiebai-Banxia (GXB) decoction shows potential for treating myocardial ischemia (MI), although its underlying mechanism is not fully understood. In this study, a multimodal metabolomics approach, combining gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and H-NMR, was employed to investigate the cardioprotective effects of GXB in a rat model of myocardial ischemia induced by ligation. ELISA assays and HE staining demonstrated that GXB effectively reduced myocardial injury, oxidative stress markers, and myocardial fibrosis.
