Hypercholesterolemia is one of the major causes of cardiovascular disease, the risk of which is further increased if other forms of dyslipidemia occur. Current therapeutic strategies include changes in lifestyle coupled with drug administration. Statins represent the most common therapeutic approach, but they may be insufficient due to the onset of resistance mechanisms and side effects. Consequently, patients with mild hypercholesterolemia prefer the use of food supplements since these are perceived to be safer. Here, we investigate the phytochemical profile and cholesterol-lowering potential of gum resin extract (PHE). Chemical characterization via HPLC-APCI-HRMS and GC-FID/MS identified 13 compounds mainly belonging to ursane, oleanane, and tirucallane groups. Studies on human hepatocytes have revealed how PHE is able to reduce cholesterol production and regulate the expression of proteins involved in its metabolism. (, , , , , and ). Moreover, measuring the inhibitory activity of PHE against HMGR, moderate inhibition was recorded. Finally, molecular docking studies identified acidic tetra- and pentacyclic triterpenoids as the main compounds responsible for this action. In conclusion, our study demonstrates how PHE may be a useful alternative to contrast hypercholesterolemia, highlighting its potential as a sustainable multitarget natural extract for the nutraceutical industry that is rapidly gaining acceptance as a source of health-promoting compounds.

Statement Of Problem: Staining at the gingival margin could impact denture longevity, but the behavior of gingival colored composite resins (GCCs) in this area remains unclear.

Purpose: This in vitro study evaluated surface staining, microleakage, and push-out bond strength at the gingival margin of artificial teeth, comparing two consistencies of GCCs with two resin base materials.

Material And Methods: Specimens included artificial teeth (Ivostar; Ivoclar AG) and two acrylic resin base materials: conventional (Ondacryl; Clássico) and high-impact (Diamond D; Keystone Industries) (n=300).

Background: Gingival recession has a multifactorial etiology, involving various predisposing and precipitating factors. Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) are often associated with gingival recession and pose challenges due to their complex pathodynamics. There is limited evidence regarding tunnel-based procedures combined with connective tissue grafts (CTGs) for treating recession-associated NCCLs.

The pathogenesis of psoriasis involves hyperproliferation of epidermal keratinocytes and abnormal interactions between activated keratinocytes and infiltrating immune cells. Emerging evidence has shown that keratinocytes play essential roles in both the initiation and maintenance of psoriasis, suggesting that exposing keratinocytes to agents with antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory effects may be effective for psoriasis treatment. Guggulsterone (GS), a plant sterol derived from the gum resin of Commiphora wightii, possesses a variety of pharmacological activities.
