AI Article Synopsis

  • The text discusses an endangered fish species found in South Korea's Goheung Peninsula and highlights that this is the first complete mitochondrial genome report for it.
  • The mitochondrial genome is 16,646 base pairs long and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a D-loop control region.
  • The genome's base composition is noted, with a high A+T content of 57.65%, and phylogenetic analysis indicates its closest relation to another unspecified species.

Article Abstract

is an endangered fish that is distributed across the Goheung Peninsula, South Korea. This is the first report of the complete mitochondrial genome of , which consists of 16,646 bp with 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a control region (D-loop). The overall base composition of the complete genome is A (29.57%), T (28.08%), G (16.54%), and C (25.80%), with a high A + T content of 57.65%. Phylogenetic analysis showed that was most closely related to .

The complete tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, comprising a series of 8 oxidative reactions, occurs in most eukaryotes in the mitochondria and in many prokaryotes. The net outcome of these 8 chemical reactions is the release of the reduced electron carriers NADH and FADH, water, and carbon dioxide. The parasites of the .

Previously, our metabolomic, transcriptomic, and genomic studies characterized the ceramide/sphingomyelin pathway as a therapeutic target in Alzheimer's disease, and we demonstrated that FTY720, a sphingosine-1-phospahate receptor modulator approved for treatment of multiple sclerosis, recovers synaptic plasticity and memory in APP/PS1 mice. To further investigate how FTY720 rescues the pathology, we performed metabolomic analysis in brain, plasma, and liver of trained APP/PS1 and wild-type mice. APP/PS1 mice showed area-specific brain disturbances in polyamines, phospholipids, and sphingolipids.

Background: Mitochondrial genes are involved in tumor metabolism in ovarian cancer (OC) and affect immune cell infiltration and treatment responses.

Aim: To predict prognosis and immunotherapy response in patients diagnosed with OC using mitochondrial genes and neural networks.

Methods: Prognosis, immunotherapy efficacy, and next-generation sequencing data of patients with OC were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus.

We present a novel mitogenome assembly of the Redlip Shiner, , and assemblies for the Greenhead Shiner, (Cypriniformes: Leuciscidae). Both are charismatic minnows in the taxonomic group and are endemic to the eastern United States. The genome contains 16,711bp and 16,706bp each comprising a total of 13 protein coding genes, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and a control region.
