Tripartite motif-containing 21 (Trim21) is mainly involved in antiviral responses and autoimmune diseases. Although Trim21 has been reported to have a cancer-promoting or anticancer effect in various tumours, its role in renal cell cancer (RCC) remains to be elucidated. In this study, we demonstrate that Trim21 is downregulated in primary RCC tissues. Low Trim21 expression in RCC is correlated with poor clinicopathological characteristics and short overall survival. Moreover, we illustrate that Trim21 inhibits RCC cells glycolysis through the ubiquitination-mediated degradation of HIF-1α, which inhibits the proliferation, tumorigenesis, migration, and metastasis of RCC cells in vitro and in vivo. Our findings show that Trim21 may become a promising predictive biomarker for the prognosis of patients with RCC.

Renal cell carcinoma metastasis to the thyroid gland: a case report.

J Med Case Rep

December 2024

Laboratory of Pathology Pathology, "CSD Health Care", Kiev, Ukraine.

Background: In this article, we report a case of renal cell carcinoma metastasis to the thyroid gland. Occult lesions of the thyroid were treated with a thyroidectomy. The case history presented below describes the patient's pathway and subsequent results.

Background: Precision oncology's implementation in clinical practice faces significant constraints due to the inadequacies in tools for detailed patient stratification and personalized treatment methodologies. Dysregulated tryptophan metabolism has emerged as a crucial factor in tumor progression, encompassing immune suppression, proliferation, metastasis, and metabolic reprogramming. However, its precise role in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) remains unclear, and predictive models or signatures based on tryptophan metabolism are conspicuously lacking.

Background: N-acetyltransferase 10 () is a lysine acetyltransferase known for catalyzing the N4-acetylcytidine (ac4C) modifications on RNAs. Recent studies have associated with the pathogenesis of various cancers. However, its specific function and prognostic significance in papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) remain poorly understood.

Background: Serine/glycine are critical for the growth and survival of cancer cells. Some cancer cells are more dependent on exogenous serine/glycine than endogenously synthesized serine/glycine. However, the function and underlying mechanisms of exogenous serine/glycine in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remain unclear.

A rare case of FH-deficient renal cell carcinoma with signet ring cells features.

Fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (FH-deficient RCC) is a clinically aggressive tumor with high rates of progression and mortality. A wide range of morphological variations has been observed in FH-deficient RCC, initially described as type 2 papillary RCC or unclassified RCC. Here, we report a case of FH-deficient RCC with rare signet ring cells features.
