Vitamin B conjugates are broadly studied in biological sciences. As light offers spatiotemporal control, we decided to develop a method for the preparation of vitamin B conjugates that release tethered molecules upon exposure to light. Herein, we report vitamin B derivatives possessing a photolabile linker suitable for conjugation with amines, azides, and alkynes. The potential applications of such conjugates are broad and include the delivery of drugs, labels, and imaging agents to their place of action and spatiotemporal release.

Drug-resistant epilepsy in pediatric patients is associated with neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Vitamin D 25-OH exerts neuroprotective effects, while glial cell line- derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and the proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) are implicated in the mechanisms of neuroinflammation and epileptogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between vitamin D 25-OH, IL-1β, and GDNF levels with seizure severity and frequency in children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

X-linked hypophosphataemia (XLH) is a rare metabolic bone disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the PHEX gene, which is predominantly expressed in osteoblasts, osteocytes and odontoblasts. XLH is characterized by increased synthesis of the bone-derived phosphaturic hormone fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), which results in renal phosphate wasting with consecutive hypophosphataemia, rickets, osteomalacia, disproportionate short stature, oral manifestations, pseudofractures, craniosynostosis, enthesopathies and osteoarthritis. Patients with XLH should be provided with multidisciplinary care organized by a metabolic bone expert.

Background: To decipher the mechanisms underlying the protective role of the Mediterranean diet (MED) in Crohn's disease (CD), we explored the implications of adherence to MED on CD course, inflammatory markers, microbial and metabolite composition.
Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed CD were recruited and followed prospectively. MED adherence was assessed by repeated food frequency questionnaires (FFQ), using a predefined IBDMED score, alongside validated MED adherence screeners.

Riboflavin, an important vitamin utilized in pharmaceutical products and as a feed additive, is mainly produced by metabolically engineered bacterial fermentation. However, the reliance on antibiotics in the production process leads to increased costs and safety risks. To address these challenges, an antibiotic-free riboflavin producer was constructed using metabolic engineering approaches coupled with a novel plasmid stabilization system.
