The interaction database MatrixDB reports protein-protein and protein-glycosaminoglycan interactions in human, mammalian, and model organisms, involving at least one extracellular matrix (ECM) constituent, namely full-length proteins, ECM multimeric proteins considered as stable complexes, proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), and bioactive fragments called matricryptins, which are released upon limited proteolysis of ECM proteins. The current version of MatrixDB (as of October 2020) contains 106,543 experimentally supported interactions, with all types of biomolecules combined. MatrixDB is the only database focusing on the curation of ECM protein and GAG interactions. The iNavigator integrated in MatrixDB allows users to build interaction networks online and to filter them according to expression data, quantitative proteomics data, or interaction detection methods. MatrixDB belongs to the International Molecular Exchange (IMEx) consortium, and uses its curation rules to capture interaction data, which are available in standardized exchange formats according to the Human Proteome Organization-Proteomics Standards Initiative (HUPO-PSI). © 2021 Wiley Periodicals LLC. The plastisphere, defined as the ecological niche for microbial colonization of plastic debris, has been recognized as a hotspot of pathogenic and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. However, the interactions between bacteria and phages facilitated by the plastisphere, as well as their impact on microbial risks to public health, remain unclear. Here, we analyzed public metagenomic data from 180 plastisphere and environmental samples, stemming from four different habitats and two plastic types (biodegradable and nonbiodegradable plastics) and obtained 611 nonredundant metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) and 4061 nonredundant phage contigs.

The retention behavior in supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) remains a complex and poorly understood phenomenon despite the development of various models to explain retention mechanisms. This study aims to deepen the understanding of retention by investigating three distinct stationary phases: high-strength silica octadecyl (HSS C18 SB), charged surface hybrid pentafluorophenyl (CSH PFP), and porous graphitic carbon (PGC) as a nonsilica-based phase. Three mobile phase compositions, i.

Engineering Polar Vortices via Strain Soliton Interactions in Marginally Twisted Multilayer Graphene.

Nano Lett

January 2025

National Laboratory of Solid-State Microstructures, School of Electronic Science and Engineering and Collaborative Innovation Center of Advanced Microstructures, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210093, Jiangsu, China.

Strain solitons have been widely observed in van der Waals materials and their heterostructures. They can manifest as one-dimensional (1D) wires and quasi-two-dimensional (2D) networks. However, their coexistence within the same region has rarely been observed, and their interplay remains unexplored.

Transcriptomic Analysis and Experimental Verification of Ferroptosis Signature Genes in Osteoarthritis.

Int J Rheum Dis

January 2025

Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Occurrence and Intervention of Rheumatic Disease, Minda Hospital of Hubei Minzu University, Enshi, China.

Osteoarthritis is a systemic disease that primarily damages articular cartilage and also affects the synovium, ligaments, and bone tissues. The key mechanisms involved are chondrocyte death and degradation of the extracellular matrix. This study aims to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with ferroptosis and investigate their roles in the development of osteoarthritis.

Sleep-disordered breathing and cardiometabolic and inflammatory markers in children with overweight/obesity: The role of cardiorespiratory fitness.

Pediatr Obes

January 2025

Department of Physical Education and Sports, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Sport and Health University Research Institute (iMUDS), University of Granada, Granada, Spain.

Objectives: To investigate the association of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) severity with cardiometabolic and inflammatory markers independently of the adiposity levels; and to explore the role of cardiorespiratory fitness in these associations in children with overweight/obesity.

Methods: A total of 109 children aged 8-11 years with overweight/obesity were included in this cross-sectional study. SDB was assessed using a scale of the reduce version of the Paediatric Sleep Questionnaire.
