Equation for Calculation of Critical Current Density Using the Bean's Model with Self-Consistent Magnetic Units to Prevent Unit Conversion Errors.

Materials (Basel)

January 2025

Laboratory for Heteroepitaxial Growth of Functional Materials & Devices, Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering, State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY 14260, USA.

This study analyzes the calculation of the critical current density by means of Bean's critical state model, using the equation formulated by Gyorgy et al. and other similar equations derived from it reported in the literature. While estimations of using Bean's model are widely performed, improper use of different equations with different magnetic units and pre-factors leads to confusion and to significant errors in the reported values of .

Our research aimed to assess if correlations could be found between items evaluated at the cerebral ultrasound performed at term-equivalent age (TEA) and neuro-motor outcomes evaluated at 12 and 24 months of corrected age in a group of preterm infants. The following were assessed: the Levine Index, the diagonals of the lateral ventricles, the size of the ventricular midbody, the sinocortical distance, the width of the basal ganglia, the cortical depth at the level of the cingular sulcus and the maturation of the gyral folding. The neurologic evaluation was performed at 12 and 24 months of corrected age, according to the Amiel Tison neurologic examination, and the items from the calendar of motor acquisitions were used as outcome measures of the study-gross and fine motor subsets.

Objectives: The current study aimed to investigate the structural and functional connectivity of the subregions of the amygdala in children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) only or comorbid with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).

Methods: A total of 354 children with ADHD-only, 161 children with ADHD and ODD (ADHD + ODD), and 100 healthy controls were enrolled. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF) were filled out by caregivers.

Combining automation and expertise: A semi-automated approach to correcting eye-tracking data in reading tasks.

Behav Res Methods

January 2025

Department of Computer Science, Colby College, 4000 Mayflower Hill, Waterville, 04901, Maine, USA.

In reading tasks, drift can move fixations from one word to another or even another line, invalidating the eye-tracking recording. Manual correction is time-consuming and subjective, while automated correction is fast - yet limited in accuracy. In this paper, we present Fix8 (Fixate), an open-source GUI tool that offers a novel semi-automated correction approach for eye-tracking data in reading tasks.

Aflibercept-Based and Bevacizumab-Based Second Line Regimens in Patients with Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: Propensity Score Weighted-Analysis from a Multicenter Cohort.

Clin Colorectal Cancer

January 2025

Operative Research Unit of Medical Oncology, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico, Roma, Italy; Department of Medicine and Surgery, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Roma, Italy.

Background: Both aflibercept and bevacizumab-based regimens are available II-line treatment options for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). However, no head-to-head trials established the optimal anti-angiogenic strategy for this setting.

Methods: We launched a multicenter, retrospective, observational study to assess and compare clinical efficacy of II-line treatments for patients with mCRC.
