Obesity is one of the major health problems of the world, and one of the most common surgical treatments is the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. This can however lead to problems with postprandial hypoglycemia, but sometimes, the meal test does not render any signs of hypoglycemia. Here, 3 cases are presented with postprandial normoglycemic hypokalemia.

In response to nutrients, intestinal L- and K-cells naturally secrete glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1). GLP-1 regulates postprandial blood glucose by increasing insulin secretion, slowing down gastric emptying and inducing satiety. A selection of specifically developed collagen hydrolysates was screened for their ability to enhance natural GLP-1 production in vitro.

The present study was aimed at gaining insight into the signalling relationship between glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and its receptor (GLP-1R) in the regulation of glucose metabolism. Further, to assess the role of G-protein-coupled receptor 40 (GPR40) and insulin receptor (INSR) in the pancreas of sheep that were supplemented with calcium salts of long-chain fatty acids (CSFAs). An experiment was carried out over a period of 60 days with eighteen sheep, and they were fed with a standard basal diet.

Aims: This study aims to investigate miR-486-5p and miR-novel-chr1_40444 expressions in dysglycemic individuals. Validating RNA-sequencing findings in a larger sample via reverse transcription qPCR (RT-qPCR), we aim to address global diagnostic and screening limitations, using an African cohort as an example.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 1,271 individuals [normoglycemic (n = 974), prediabetic (n = 206), screen-detected type 2 diabetes (n = 91)] from the ongoing Vascular and Metabolic Health (VMH) study in Cape Town, South Africa.

Stair climbing exercise (SE) provides a feasible approach to elevate physical activity, but the effects on metabolic health are unclear. We systematically reviewed the currently available evidence on the effects of SE on fasting and postprandial glycaemia and lipidaemia. Studies were included if they investigated the effects of acute or chronic (at least 2 weeks) SE on fasting and/or postprandial glycaemic (insulin and glucose) and lipidaemic (triacylglycerols and non-esterified fatty acids) responses in healthy, prediabetic or type 2 diabetic adult populations.

Impaired glucose regulation is suggested to be related to chronic low back pain (CLBP), although it is not clear how they interact with each other. Thus, the primary aim of this study was to investigate differences in postprandial glycemic responses (PPGRs) (the first sign of impaired glucose metabolism) to high- (sucrose) and low-glycemic index (GI) (isomaltulose) beverages in normoglycemic women with CLBP and healthy controls (HCs) and explore whether any group that showed greater PPGRs to high-GI beverage intake would benefit when the high-GI beverage was replaced with a low-GI beverage. Secondly, this study aimed to explore the association between PPGR and pain in patients with CLBP.
