Association of Mobile Stroke Unit Care and Spending, Utilization, and Death in New York City.

J Am Heart Assoc

January 2025

Department of Population Health Sciences Weill Cornell Medicine New York NY.

Background: Transport by mobile stroke units (MSUs), which provide access to computed tomography scanning and intravenous blood pressure medications and thrombolytics, reduces time to treatment and may improve short-term functional outcomes for patients with acute stroke. The longer-term clinical and financial impacts remain incompletely understood. The aim of the study was to determine whether MSU care is associated with better health, utilization, and spending outcomes for patients with suspected acute stroke.

In this work, we present a straightforward synthetic route for the preparation of functionalized β--fused porphyrins, which are subsequently connected to rylendiimides. The resulting donor-acceptor-type conjugates exhibit intriguing optical properties, such as panchromatism and profoundly bathochromically shifted absorption curves. A better understanding of the molecules' electronic structure was gained through density-functional theory calculations, which unveiled small HOMO-LUMO gaps.

Background And Purpose: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common dose limiting adverse effect that may be transient or become persistent after the treatment ended. The taxane paclitaxel induces CIPN in 57-83% of patients treated. The neuropathy may debut or progress after the end of treatment (EOT), known as coasting, but little is known about the incidence of this phenomenon.

Genetically modified foods (GMFs) have garnered significant attention due to their implications for health, agriculture, and food security. Understanding knowledge and perceptions of GMFs is essential, as these factors influence acceptance and attitudes. This study, the first of its kind in Lebanon, aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions regarding GMFs and to explore their association with socio-demographic characteristics.
