Advanced Brain Tumor Classification in MR Images Using Transfer Learning and Pre-Trained Deep CNN Models.

Cancers (Basel)

January 2025

Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, 2815 Gjøvik, Norway.

Background/objectives: Brain tumor classification is a crucial task in medical diagnostics, as early and accurate detection can significantly improve patient outcomes. This study investigates the effectiveness of pre-trained deep learning models in classifying brain MRI images into four categories: Glioma, Meningioma, Pituitary, and No Tumor, aiming to enhance the diagnostic process through automation.

Methods: A publicly available Brain Tumor MRI dataset containing 7023 images was used in this research.

Members of the B-Box (BBX) family of proteins play crucial roles in the growth and development of rice. Here, we identified a rice BBX protein, Oryza sativa BBX2 (OsBBX2), which exhibits the highest expression in the root. The transcription of follows a diurnal rhythm under photoperiodic conditions, peaking at dawn.

Gradient Porous and Carbon Black-Integrated Cellulose Acetate Aerogel for Scalable Radiative Cooling.

Small

January 2025

School of Mechanical Engineering, Korea University, 145 Anam-Ro, Seongbuk-Gu, Seoul, 02841, Republic of Korea.

Passive temperature controls like passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC)-heating (PDRH), and thermal insulation are essential to meet the growing demand for energy-efficient thermal solutions. When combined with advanced functions like electromagnetic interference shielding, these technologies can significantly enhance scalability. However, existing approaches using single thin films or uniform porous materials face inherent limitations in optimizing versatile functions, while lightweight, insulating aerogels can extend their multifunctionality by manipulating pores and fillers.

To understand the effects of agricultural land use change and management on soil carbon (C) cycling, it is crucial to examine how these changes can influence microbial soil C cycling. Network analysis can offer insights into the structure, complexity, and stability of the soil microbiome in response to environmental disturbances, including land use change. Using SparCC-based co-occurrence networks, we studied how land use change impacts the connectivity, complexity, and stability of microbial C-cycling gene networks across an agricultural mosaic landscape in Canterbury, New Zealand.
