Snake-related injury (SRI) is one of the most common medical emergencies encountered in tropical countries such as Malaysia. The majority of snake bites are nonvenomous, while the less common venomous snakebite can cause major disability or even death. Aims: This retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate the efficacy of dual-chamber left Bundle branch pacing (LBBP) as an alternative therapy for heart failure patients with complete left bundle branch block (CLBBB) and indications for defibrillator with cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT-D).
Methods: 34 patients met inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study. These criteria included a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of lower than 35%, a New York Heart Association functional class of II-IV, CLBBB meeting Strauss's criteria, intraventricular dyssynchrony, and confirmed correction of CLBBB during LBBP.

Histiocytic disorders include a range of uncommon illnesses marked by the buildup of cells that have developed into macrophages, dendritic cells, or monocytes in diverse tissues and organs. Over 100 distinct subtypes have been documented, exhibiting a diverse array of clinical symptoms, presentations, and histologic features that can be confused with other clinical conditions leading to delayed diagnosis. They affect both children and adults, generating a variety of clinical symptoms that can be limited to one position, numerous areas within one system, or affect many systems in the body.

Background: Non-proliferative and proliferative diabetic retinopathy are common complications of diabetes and a major cause of sight loss. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs represent a treatment option for people with diabetic retinopathy and are routinely used to treat various other eye conditions. However, anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs are expensive relative to current care options, and it is unclear whether this additional cost is justified when the immediate risk of vision loss is lower compared to patients with more aggressive ophthalmological conditions.

Single-cell studies of virus infection have found significant heterogeneity in virus and host gene expression as well as the kinetics of progeny particle release. However, such studies have yet to examine how the resulting virus descendants spread and infect nearby cells. We monitored reporter-gene expression from a recombinant rhinovirus in cell monolayers infected at low multiplicity of infection; we found that the second round of infection consistently exhibited a shorter delay in fluorescence signal appearance relative to the first round, indicating an acceleration in infection spread.
