Background: Cabazitaxel (CBZ) is a key drug used for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). However, clinical trial data on CBZ in very elderly patients are still lacking. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and feasibility of CBZ for mCRPC patients of ≥ 80 years of age.

Background: Phase II trials and subgroup analyses of clinical studies suggest that bevacizumab plus an oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy doublet is effective and tolerable in fit older patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).

Objective: To evaluate the influence of age on the incidence of side effects and efficacy of this combination in patients with mCRC randomized in the prospective phase III OBELICS study.

Methods: In total, 230 patients with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status (PS) 0 out of 1 were retrieved on the basis of age (190 < 70 years and 40 ≥ 70 years).

Alternative pre-mRNA splicing (AS) is a crucial regulatory layer of gene expression in eukaryotes. AS patterns can change in response to abiotic and biotic stress, allowing cellular functions to adapt to environmental conditions. Here, we examined the effects of cellular stress-inducing chemicals on AS-mediated gene regulation in Arabidopsis thaliana by investigating the alternatively spliced forms of SERINE-ARGININE PROTEIN30 (SRp30) and U1-70 K, encoding splicing factors, as well as ASCORBATE PEROXIDASE3 (APX3) and FOLYLPOLYGLUTAMATE SYNTHASE3 (FPGS3), encoding enzymes important for stress responses.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of daratumumab versus bortezomib in patients with systemic light chain amyloidosis (pAL) with cardiac involvement, particularly those at stage IIIb.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of 16 AL patients with cardiac involvement, two groups of patients received treatment primarily with bortezomib and daratumumab, respectively. The hematologic remission rate, cardiac response rate, survival and adverse reactions of the two groups were analyzed.
