Objective: Video consultations have proven themselves in international penal systems. Amidst a lack of medical staff, video consultations were offered in five correctional facilities in Baden-Württemberg in 2018 as part of a pilot project. This evaluation study aimed at assessing the acceptance of video consultations among patients.
Methods: The mixed-methods evaluation consisted of site visits, interviews, questionnaires and an analysis of medical treatment data.
Results: A total of 305 video consultations were conducted between June and December 2018. Among the most frequent reasons for encounter were feeling anxious/nervous/tense, sleep disturbance, headache and drug abuse. Including familiar medical staff and offering training for the involved physicians were important factors that enabled a trusting communication.
Conclusion: Video consultations were seen as a useful addition to existing health care. However, they were considered less suitable for both emergencies and physical examinations.

Purpose: Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental condition that affects approximately 5% of the pediatric population, with increased prevalence among those with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Reports suggest that unrecognized and untreated ADHD impairs T1D control and that ADHD may be underdiagnosed in the Polish population. The International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes recommends neurodevelopmental assessments in children with T1D, but specific guidelines on procedures and implementation are lacking.

Background: Telehealth-facilitated models of palliative care are a patient-focused way to deliver specialist care in or closer to home for people with a life-limiting illness. Telehealth can increase access to palliative care and support people experiencing symptoms of advanced disease in their own home, reducing the discomfort of travel. This retrospective cohort study examines the activity and outcomes of a regional telehealth-facilitated palliative care service to (i) describe which patients are most likely to use telehealth; and (ii) explore possible impacts of telehealth on patient outcomes including place of death, timely access to care, responsiveness to urgent needs and pain management.

Background: Examination maneuvers used to diagnose developmental hip dysplasia (DDH) translate poorly to video and written curricula. This poses a challenge to teaching the infant hip exam to orthopedic, family medicine, and pediatric trainees. This work investigated the impact of the MiHip simulation-based training program on residents' knowledge, confidence, and exam skills in the simulated setting, and translation of these skills to the clinical setting.

Objective: Electronic health records (EHRs) have increasingly become integral to contemporary medical consultations, including pediatric care. This study aims at exploring the interactional use of the EHR during naturally occurring pediatric well-child visits, focusing specifically on how pediatricians and parents manage knowledge concerning infants' growth inscribed in the EHR.
Methods: Conversation analysis is used to analyze 23 video-recorded Italian well-child visits involving two pediatricians and twenty-two families with children aged 0-18 months.
