We describe a mid-infrared pump - terahertz-probe setup based on a CO laser seeded with 10.6 μm wavelength pulses from an optical parametric amplifier, itself pumped by a Ti:AlO laser. The output of the seeded CO laser produces high power pulses of nanosecond duration, which are synchronized to the femtosecond laser. These pulses can be tuned in pulse duration by slicing their front and back edges with semiconductor-plasma mirrors irradiated by replicas of the femtosecond seed laser pulses. Variable pulse lengths from 5 ps to 1.3 ns are achieved, and used in mid-infrared pump, terahertz-probe experiments with probe pulses generated and electro-optically sampled by the femtosecond laser.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the sex-specific influence of expected exercise duration on the physiological responses to RPE-clamp exercise anchored to RPE 15 with participants being deceived into believing the RPE-clamp exercise would last for 20-, 30-, or 40-min, but all trials were 30-min.

Methods: Twelve males and 12 females completed a graded exercise test followed by randomly ordered RPE-clamp trials at RPE15 on the Borg 6-20 scale where subjects were deceived into expecting exercise to last for either 20-, 30-, or 40-min, but the actual duration for each trial was 30-min. The MKN45 cell line, a type of gastric cancer cell, exhibits resistance to chemotherapy agents through various mechanisms. Curcumin and noscapine, two plant-derived anticancer compounds, exhibit selective cytotoxicity towards cancer cells. However, their bioavailability is poor both in vitro and in vivo.

The purpose of this study was to identify haemodynamic factors that are associated with tissue hypoperfusion in flap/graft surgical patients that might be modified to reduce perioperative morbidity. We conducted a single-centre, retrospective, observational study of 1355 patients undergoing head and neck flap reconstructions. Logistic regression and chi-square analyses were employed to identify factors which signal perioperative complications.

Purpose: To optimize the effectiveness and safety of pulmonary vein isolation, pulsed-field ablation (PFA) and high-power short-duration ablation (HPSD) have recently been incorporated into clinical practice. The objective of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis, focusing on the efficacy, safety, and procedural efficiency of PFA and HPSD in the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF).

Methods: A thorough search was performed across multiple databases to identify trials that compared PFA with HPSD for AF from their inception until July 2024.
