Apical microsurgery is accurate and minimally invasive, produces few complications, and has a success rate of more than 90%. However, due to the lack of awareness and understanding of apical microsurgery by dental general practitioners and even endodontists, many clinical problems remain to be overcome. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of continuous perfusion of underwater bone grinding combined with a -shaped incision versus a microscopic posterior ear incision in the treatment of attic cholesteatoma. Clinical trials were prospective studies from the Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital. Adult patients with middle ear cholesteatoma requiring ear surgery agreed to participate between September 2019 and September 2023 (age > 18).

This study (1) characterized the effects of channel interaction using spectral blurring, (2) evaluated an image-guided electrode selection (IGES) method aiming to reduce channel interaction, and (3) investigated the impact of electrode placement factors on the change in performance by condition. Twelve adult MED-EL (Innsbruck, Austria) cochlear implant recipients participated. Performance was compared across six conditions: baseline (no blurring), all blurred, apical blurred, middle blurred, basal blurred, and IGES.

A 53-year-old woman presented to the surgical emergency with complaints of high-grade fever accompanied by chills for 15 days and pain in the right upper abdomen for 10 days. X-ray of the abdomen and chest X-ray revealed free gas under the right hemidiaphragm. As there were no signs of generalised or localised peritonitis, emergency laparotomy was postponed.
