Background: Acute encephalopathy with biphasic seizures and late reduced diffusion (AESD) is clinically characterized by biphasic seizures associated with mild to severe neurological sequelae and is the most common subtype of acute encephalopathy in Japan, accounting for around 30 % of cases. The present study retrospectively analyzed the utility of electroencephalography (EEG) in determining the optimal method of diagnosing AESD at the early stage.
Methods: This study explores early power value differences to differentiate acute encephalopathy from prolonged febrile seizure (FS).

Background: Despite the increasing popularity of electronic devices, the longitudinal effects of daily prolonged electronic device usage on brain health and the aging process remain unclear.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the daily use of mobile phones/computers on the brain structure and the risk of neurodegenerative diseases.
Methods: We used data from the UK Biobank, a longitudinal population-based cohort study, to analyze the impact of mobile phone use duration, weekly usage time, and playing computer games on the future brain structure and the future risk of various neurodegenerative diseases, including all-cause dementia (ACD), Alzheimer disease (AD), vascular dementia (VD), all-cause parkinsonism (ACP), and Parkinson disease (PD).

Wernicke's encephalopathy (WE) is a severe neurological condition caused by the deficiency of thiamine, which is a vitamin B1 molecule. Herein, we present the case of a 3-year-old girl with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) who did not achieve remission despite steroid pulse therapy (MPT) and rituximab. She had frequent vomiting and decreased oral intake on the 61st day.

Glucose-stimulated insulin release from pancreatic β-cells is critical for maintaining blood glucose homeostasis. An abrupt increase in blood glucose concentration evokes a rapid and transient rise in insulin secretion followed by a prolonged, slower phase. A diminished first phase is one of the earliest indicators of β-cell dysfunction in individuals predisposed to develop type 2 diabetes.

Background: Glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) and their exosomes (exos) are involved in shaping the immune microenvironment, which is important for tumor invasion and recurrence. However, studies involving GSC-derived exosomal circular RNAs (GDE-circRNAs) in regulating tumor microenvironment (TME) remain unknown. Here, we comprehensively evaluated the significance of a novel immune-related GDE-circRNA in glioma microenvironment.
