Resurgence of Chern-Simons Theory at the Trivial Flat Connection.

Commun Math Phys

December 2024

Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques, Le Bois-Marie 35 rte de Chartres, 91440 Bures-sur-Yvette, France.

Some years ago, it was conjectured by the first author that the Chern-Simons perturbation theory of a 3-manifold at the trivial flat connection is a resurgent power series. We describe completely the resurgent structure of the above series (including the location of the singularities and their Stokes constants) in the case of a hyperbolic knot complement in terms of an extended square matrix (, )-series whose rows are indexed by the boundary parabolic -flat connections, including the trivial one. We use our extended matrix to describe the Stokes constants of the above series, to define explicitly their Borel transform and to identify it with state-integrals.

Optimism and pessimism: a concept for behavioural ecology.

Biol Rev Camb Philos Soc

December 2024

Institute for Neuro- and Behavioural Biology, University of Münster, Badestr. 13, Münster, 48149, Germany.

Originating from human psychology, the concepts of "optimism" and "pessimism" were transferred to animal welfare science about 20 years ago to study emotional states in non-human animals. Over time, "optimism" and "pessimism" have developed into valuable welfare indicators, but little focus has been put on the ecological implications of this concept. Here, we aim to bridge this gap and underline the great potential for transferring it to behavioural ecology.

Gasterophilus in horses from Romania: diversity, prevalence, seasonal dynamics, and distribution.

Parasitol Res

December 2024

Department of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca, Calea Manaștur 3-5, 400372, Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

This is the first study that targets the epidemiology of Gasterophilus spp. in slaughtered horses from Romania. Previously to our research, there were five recorded species: Gasterophilus haemorrhoidalis, Gasterophilus inermis, Gasterophilus intestinalis, Gasterophilus nasalis, and Gasterophilus pecorum with a dispersed distribution throughout the country, the data being recorded more than 73 years ago.

The intrauterine device (IUD) is an important and highly effective means of contraception. Migration of the IUD, post implantation, out of the uterus is an infrequent complication, and its subsequent migration into the urinary bladder with formation of secondary bladder calculi, is even more infrequently reported. The authors report a 51 year old woman who had had her last child delivered via cesarean section 16 years ago.
