AI Article Synopsis

  • Thermographic examination was conducted on the buttocks of 7 patients after they underwent hypogastric artery ligation with non-absorbable sutures.
  • In 6 cases, imaging methods confirmed the absence of blood vessel recanalization, while 1 case used pelvic angioscintigraphy to confirm the same.
  • The use of thermography, along with other examination techniques, proves effective for assessing circulation status post-surgery, especially in critical situations where hemorrhage control is necessary.

Article Abstract

Thermographic examination of buttocks of 7 patients after hypogastric artery ligation using non-absorbable suture has been performed. In 6 patients the possibility of eventual recanalization has been eliminated by aortography, in 1 patient by pelvic angioscintigraphy. Repeated thermographic examination of 3 patients after bilateral ligation has shown no anomalous results. In 1 among 4 patients after unilateral ligation a cooler area could be repeatedly observed on the ipsilateral side. Thermography, in combination with other methods of examination, seems to be suitable for complex study of the state of circulation after hypograstric artery ligation, performed to stop a life-threatening hemorrhage.

Background: Hepatic artery infusion pump (HAIP) chemotherapy is a locoregional treatment for intrahepatic malignancies. HAIPs are surgically implanted, and the catheter tip is typically inserted into a ligated gastroduodenal artery stump. Potential complications at the catheter insertion site include dehiscence, pseudoaneurysm or extravasation, and adjacent hepatic arterial stenosis and thrombosis.

Arachidonic acid synergizes with aspirin preventing myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury and mitigates bleeding risk.

Aims: The therapeutic efficacy of coronary revascularization is compromised by myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (MI/R) injury. Higher levels of circulating arachidonic acid (AA) are reportedly associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease. The cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway metabolizes AA into prostaglandins (PGs) and the platelet-activating thromboxane A2 (TXA2), which is inhibited by aspirin.

Aim: Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by early increased beta-amyloid (Aβ) and decreased cerebrovascular reactivity. We investigated Aβ in gingiva, serum or hippocampus and neurovascular reactivity in basilar artery (BA) of periodontitis rats, to test the impact of Aβ on BA vasoreactivity ex vivo.

Materials And Methods: Periodontitis was induced in 32 rats using silk-ligation.

The current treatments and drugs of myocardial infarction (MI) remain insufficient. In recent years, natural products have garnered significant attention for their potential in treating cardiovascular diseases due to their availability and lower toxicity. Saponins, in particular, showed promising effects for cardiac protection.

Objective: To observe the effects of (transforming stasis and unblocking collaterals) moxibustion on learning-memory ability and hippocampal mammalian sterile 20-like kinase 1 (Mst1)/nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) p65 pathway related to inflammatory response in rats with vascular dementia (VD).

Methods: A total of 60 male Wistar rats of SPF grade were randomly divided into a sham operation group (12 rats) and a modeling group (48 rats). VD model was established by the method of modified bilateral common carotid artery permanent ligation in the modeling group.
