Antibiotics, celebrated as some of the most significant pharmaceutical breakthroughs in medical history, are capable of eliminating or inhibiting bacterial growth, offering a primary defense against a wide array of bacterial infections. However, the rise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), driven by the widespread use of antibiotics, has evolved into a widespread and ominous threat to global public health. Thus, the creation of efficient methods for detecting resistance genes and antibiotics is imperative for ensuring food safety and safeguarding human health.

Background: Travel restrictions and border controls were used extensively during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the processes for making robust evidence-based risk assessments of source countries to inform border control policies was in many cases very limited.
Methods: Between April 2020 and February 2022, all international arrivals to New Zealand were required to spend 14 days in government-managed quarantine facilities and were tested at least twice.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused unprecedented disruptions in the lives of people, inducing a change in social behavior because of quarantine and physical distancing measures for health safety. It greatly affected not only the general population but also the healthcare system, forcing healthcare providers and consumers to adjust from the traditional mode of in-person consultation to telemedicine to enable safe and prompt delivery of adequate and efficient patient care. A 35-year-old female was diagnosed with acromegaly secondary to pituitary macroadenoma, presenting as a 10-year history of weight gain, amenorrhea, hand and feet enlargement, coarse facial features, and bilateral vision loss.

The present work is the third and final part in a series of monographs on the Iranian scale insect fauna (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha) by the same authors: Part 1, the armoured scales (Diaspididae), was published in 2021, and Part 2, the mealybugs (Pseudococcidae and Rhizoecidae) and Putoidae, was published in 2022. Here we cover ten families: Asterolecaniidae, Cerococcidae, Coccidae, Cryptococcidae, Eriococcidae, Kermesidae, Margarodidae, Monophlebidae, Ortheziidae and Phoenicococcidae, bringing the total number of scale insect families recorded in Iran to 14. A key is provided to separate all 14 families.

Effective pest management relies on comprehensive knowledge of the insect's biology and invasion history. This study uses genomics to address these knowledge gaps and inform existing biosurveillance frameworks.
