Cannabidiol (CBD) and Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main components of Cannabis sativa plants, can interact with specific cell receptors known as cannabinoid receptors (CBs). The endogenous compounds anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) are CB agonists, and, alongside enzymes, they constitute the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and take part in neuromodulation. Several LC-MS/MS methods have been developed to quantify these compounds in biological matrixes, but a fast and simple method that can determine these analytes in plasma samples simultaneously is not available.

The ingestion of food contaminated with citrinin (CIT) poses a variety of health risks to humans and animals. The immunogens (CIT-COOH-BSA, CIT-H-BSA) and detection antigen (CIT-COOH-OVA, CIT-H-OVA) were synthesised using the active ester method (-COOH) and formaldehyde addition method (-H). A hybridoma cell line (3G5) that secretes anti-CIT monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) was screened via CIT-H-BSA immunisation of mice, cell fusion, and ELISA screening technology.

Evaluation of a point-of-care test for quantitative determination of total thyroxine in feline serum.

J Feline Med Surg

Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (DIVAS), University of Milan, Lodi (LO), Italy.

Objectives: Total thyroxine (TT4) evaluation is the most commonly used first-line test for the diagnosis and monitoring of cats with hyperthyroidism. Vcheck T4 is a point-of-care immunoassay that measures TT4 using a Vcheck V200 analyser. This study aimed to evaluate the analytic performance of the Vcheck T4 assay in feline sera and the agreement in the classification of normal, high and low TT4 concentrations of Vcheck T4 with those measured by an enzyme immunoassay (EIA).

Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody (TRAb) is a specific marker for Graves' disease (GD) and the measurement of which can improve the accuracy of GD diagnosis. Current detection methods utilize porcine-derived polyclonal-TRAb, which is unstable and is a source of significant inter-assay variability. This study aims to establish a time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA) method based on stable source of recombinant human TSHR and TRAb for the detection of serum TRAb.

Background: While immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapies can significantly improve outcomes for patients with recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (RM-HNSCC), only about 15-20% benefit from such treatments. Clinical tests that guide the use of ICIs are therefore critically needed. OncoPrism-HNSCC was developed to address this need.
