This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the interactions between dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and two small peptides, diglycine and -acetyl-glycine-methylamide (NAGMA), in aqueous solutions using FTIR spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and DFT results revealed that DMSO does not form direct bonds with the peptides, suggesting that DMSO indirectly influences both peptides by modifying the surrounding water molecules. The analysis of HDO spectra allowed for the isolation of the contribution of water molecules that were simultaneously altered by the peptide and DMSO, and it also explained the changes in the hydration shells of the peptides in the presence of DMSO.

Doxorubicin (DOX) has been widely used as a cytotoxic chemotherapeutic. However, DOX has a number of side effects, such as myelotoxicity or gonadotoxicity, the most dangerous of which is cardiotoxicity. Cardiotoxicity can manifest as cardiac arrhythmias, myocarditis, and pericarditis; life-threatening late cardiotoxicity can result in heart failure months or years after the completion of chemotherapy.

Mental fatigue is an important factor affecting athletes' performance. Explaining the effects of mental fatigue on sports performance from a theoretical point of view can help us deeply understand the interconnection between mental fatigue and sports performance and conduct effective interventions based on this. Combining the relevant literature in China and abroad reveals that the current academic theories on the mechanism of sports fatigue include motivational control theory, underload theory, neural waste disposal hypothesis, and resource depletion theory.

While there are many works on the applications of machine learning, not so many of them are trying to understand the theoretical justifications to explain their efficiency. In this work, overfitting control (or generalization property) in machine learning is explained using analogies from physics and biology. For stochastic gradient Langevin dynamics, we show that the Eyring formula of kinetic theory allows to control overfitting in the algorithmic stability approach-when wide minima of the risk function with low free energy correspond to low overfitting.
