Immature stages of Cassida pfefferi Sekerka, 2006 from Cyprus are described and illustrated for the first time and compared with immatures of closely related species Cassida nobilis Linnaeus, 1758 and Cassida vittata Villers, 1789. Detailed descriptions of mature larvae and pupae of C. nobilis and C. vittata are also given. Analysis of the morphological body structure of the preimaginal stages of the studied species reveals subtle characters distinguishing C. pfefferi from other species of C. nobilis groups and confirms its species status.

Oviposition behavior in insects has received considerable attention, but studies have mainly focused on the antennae, neglecting the role of the ovipositor. In this study, we investigated the functional characteristics of the ovipositor in oviposition site selection by the fall armyworm (FAW) Spodoptera frugiperda, a destructive invasive pest of maize and other cereals. In oviposition choice assays females exhibited significant repellency to isothiocyanate (ITC), volatiles specific to non-preferred cruciferous plants.

Pulmonary disorders are exacerbated by high blood sugar, leading to a disordered immune defense and increased susceptibility to infection. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) is characterized by insulin resistance and inadequate insulin production. Mechanisms leading to pulmonary alternation due to T2D are not clear.

Introduction: Children's rapid development and immature immune systems place them at a higher risk of adverse health outcomes associated with air pollution exposure. However, the specific mechanisms in which air pollution mediates immune dysregulation in youth are poorly understood. Thus, we aimed to systematically review the available epidemiological evidence surrounding the effects of indoor and ambient air pollution exposure on systemic immune biomarkers in early life (from birth to 18 years old).

Adult hippocampal neurogenesis is linked to memory formation In the adult brain, with new neurons in the hippocampus exhibiting greater plasticity during their immature stages compared to mature neurons. Abnormal adult hippocampal neurogenesis is closely associated with cognitive impairment in central nervous system diseases. Targeting and regulating adult hippocampal neurogenesis have been shown to improve cognitive deficits.

Unlike differentiated somatic cells, which possess elongated mitochondria, undifferentiated cells, such as those of preimplantation embryos, possess round, immature mitochondria. Mitochondrial morphology changes dynamically during cell differentiation in a process called mitochondrial maturation. The significance of the alignment between cell differentiation and mitochondrial maturity in preimplantation development remains unclear.
