Background: Patients undergoing major lower extremity amputation (LEA) due to vascular disease face an increased risk of post-surgery anxiety and depression. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), widely used to identify anxiety and depressive symptoms, has been translated into Danish, but its content validity has not previously been tested in LEA patients. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of HADS in this population.

Parkinson disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, and its accurate diagnosis is crucial for timely intervention. We propose the PArkinson disease Denoising and Segmentation Network (PADS-Net), to simultaneously denoise and segment transcranial ultrasound images of midbrain for accurate PD diagnosis. The PADS-Net is built upon generative adversarial networks and incorporates a multi-task deep learning framework aimed at optimizing the tasks of denoising and segmentation for ultrasound images.

Objectives: Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a rapidly evolving and clinically significant skill set that has potential for improving patient care for the approximately 7 million Canadians living in rural and under-resourced environments. A national appraisal of rural POCUS training and utilization is needed to understand barriers to funding and training for rural emergency physicians in Canada. The primary objective of this study was to determine the current level of training and types of POCUS utilization by rural emergency physicians in Canada.
